Also calls for government subsidies on fresh produce, such as fruit and vegetables.
23/06/05 The British Medical Association (BMA) believes that the United Kingdom is facing a timebomb of heart disease and diabetes as a direct result of an obesity epidemic currently being felt across the Kingdom.
The BMA said in a report: “There should be a ban on the advertising of unhealthy foodstuffs, including inappropriate sponsorship programmes, targeted at school children." The report also backed chef Jamie Oliver’s healthy school initiative.
The BMA also called for government subsidies on fresh produce, such as fruit and vegetables.
