Taiyo lands sports nutrition certification for Sunfiber, Suntheanine, Matcha and Teavigo
25 May 2021 --- Taiyo has received Informed Ingredient certification for Sunfiber, Suntheanine, Matcha and Teavigo. The all-natural ingredients are now able to tap into consumer demands for third-party verification of safe and effective dietary supplements.
This certification verifies that products have been regularly screened for a wide variety of substances prohibited in sports nutrition products, ensuring their protection and efficacy in athlete-specific formulations.
“Informed Ingredient certification provides our customers with the additional confidence that when they use our brands in their formulas, they are not just effective, but they are also safe for athletes to use,” says Scott Smith, Taiyo international vice president.
Informed Ingredient certification is deemed a convenience for customers who sell dietary supplements on Amazon because it is the first step in LGC’s Informed Choice certification. In addition to evaluating the raw ingredient and manufacturing process, Taiyo plans to extend the Informed Ingredient certification to a range of its other products.
A broad range of health positionings
The ingredients are positioned as having various health benefits.
Sunfiber, for instance, is an all-natural prebiotic soluble fiber that supports digestive health by feeding the good bacteria in the gut and promoting a balanced flora without causing gas, bloating or cramps.
The ingredient is used in vitamins, stick packs, tablets and other food, beverage and bar applications because it has no taste or texture.
Recently, a study revealed how Taiyo’s gut microbiome supplement Sunfiber PHGG (partially hydrolyzed guar gum) can aid in conception.
Suntheanine is a 100 percent pure L-isomer-theanine that increases concentration, attention, mental clarity and sleep quality by inducing alpha waves in the brain. These are correlated with a relaxed yet alert mental state. It is used in supplements, tablets and functional foods and beverages.
The ingredient was recently used in chewy granola functional snacks and functional chocolate.
Matcha is a pure organic green tea leaf powder made from high-quality green tea leaves high in polyphenols, vitamins, minerals, fibers, chlorophyll and L-theanine. It is used in drinks, dairy products and confections.
Teavigo is a green tea extract with high-purity decaffeinated EGCg with antibacterial and antiviral effects and benefits for heart health, weight loss and oral care. It is used as an antioxidant in foods and confectionery as dietary supplements, drinks and dairy.
Screening for a wide variety of banned substances
The LGC’s Informed Ingredient certification is a comprehensive and thorough testing procedure.Taiyo’s product certification confirms that ingredients are free from impurities and prohibited substances.
This voluntary initiative ensures that products have been regularly screened for a wide variety of banned substances and are therefore safe for athletes to use without fear of adulteration or contamination.
“The momentum is shifting on the ingredient side,” confirms LGC business development director Paul Klinger. “Reputable ingredient suppliers are doing more than just testing to see if their products are safe.”
“Informed Ingredient certification adds an additional level of credibility and quality assurance to their brands, which further distinguishes them from their competition.”
Innova Market Insights’ data for the Top Ten Trends in 2021 show that within the “Transparency Triumphs” trend, three in five global consumers are interested in “learning more about where their food comes from and how it is made.” Also, three in four global consumers expect companies to “invest in sustainability.”
Informed Choice is one of Amazon’s approved third-party quality certification programs required for selling dietary supplements on its site.
The certification also helps Taiyo’s customers comply with Amazon’s dietary supplement safety documentation.
Smith adds: “Taiyo stands ready to help our customers with their Informed Choice certification and Amazon compliance.”
