Solaray launches Liposomal Prenatal supplement with gentle digestion
Key takeaways
- Solaray has launched its Liposomal Prenatal supplement designed for gentle digestion, addressing common discomforts caused by traditional prenatal formulas.
- The supplement includes essential vitamins and minerals, including liposomal iron, iodine, choline, and folate, optimized for absorption and fetal development.
- Solaray’s liposomal technology aims to improve nutrient bioavailability while minimizing digestive irritation, making it especially suitable for women in early pregnancy.

Solaray has launched its Liposomal Prenatal supplement, delivering essential nutrients needed for women before conception and in the early stages of pregnancy.
The company says the supplement is science-backed and contains 100% liposomal vitamins, minerals, and essential nutrients such as choline, iron, iodine, vitamin B6, and methylfolate (5-MTHF). The formula is created for better absorption and overall health support.
The company says the supplement is designed to avoid digestive discomfort, which is commonly associated with traditional prenatal supplements. Liposomal Prenatal aims to provide gentle digestion in a two-capsule-per-day format.
“Finding a prenatal that delivers everything a mother and baby need, without compromise, has historically been a challenge. Many prenatal formulas omit iron entirely because of the digestive discomfort it can cause,” says Rachel Kilroy, director of Product Innovation at Solaray.

“Our liposomal technology changes that equation. By encasing nutrients in a protective lipid barrier designed for optimal absorption and gentle digestion, we were able to formulate a prenatal that includes iron alongside every other essential nutrient without asking women to choose between complete nutrition and comfort.”
Essential nutrients
The supplement is created for women planning to conceive or who are in the first trimester of pregnancy. It provides 17 vitamins and minerals at the full daily recommended value for pregnancy across 20 liposomal nutrients.
The capsules contain 5-MTHF, a form of folate recommended during pregnancy, as it is readily absorbed and helps support red blood cell production and the nervous system.
The supplement contains ginger, which relieves nausea commonly caused by motion sickness, says Solaray.
Although the capsules already contain choline, Solaray suggests additional supplementation of the nutrient.
A recent Canadian study found that choline can regulate inflammation during pregnancy, and that a higher intake was linked to lower inflammation in the third trimester.
The new supplement also contains iron, essential to support healthy blood levels and red blood cell production. However, iron commonly causes digestive discomfort and is therefore sometimes excluded from prenatals, says Solaray. To overcome this barrier, the company uses liposomal iron, which is designed for gentle digestion and optimal absorption.
The product also contains iodine, which provides essential thyroid support during pregnancy, and vitamin B6, supporting cellular energy metabolism and nerve function.
The company also added ginger, which relieves nausea commonly caused by motion sickness.
Digestive comfort
Solaray stresses that prenatal nutrition brings unique demands to the body. During pregnancy, digestive sensitivity is common, and efficient nutrient absorption is important to support fetal development and maternal health.
“Liposomal technology works by encasing nutrients in a protective lipid barrier, helping them move through the digestive system more efficiently and reach the body where they are needed most,” explains the company.
“In this prenatal formula, liposomal delivery supports improved bioavailability while minimizing gastrointestinal irritation, making it especially well-suited for prenatal supplementation and sensitive digestion during early pregnancy.”
The industry is seeing transformations in prenatal nutrition, driven by advancements in ingredient technology, innovative product formats, and a growing understanding of the nuanced needs of expecting parents.
From formulation advances around essential vitamins to specialized ingredients addressing male fertility and the demands of later-life pregnancies, the industry is recalibrating to offer more targeted and personalized support.
There is also an increased focus on personalized solutions, driven by increasing maternity ages and nutritional awareness.
