Roquette releases high-performance platform for innovative pharmaceutical coatings
(Image credit: Roquette).Roquette has launched a new coatings platform designed to meet the growing demand in eco-conscious prescription pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, and OTC markets. The range offers ready-to-use film coating systems, including Tabshield, for both immediate and enteric release, and plant-based polymer-based ReadiLYCOAT for sugar-free sugar coatings.
ReadiLYCOAT premixes enable white, clear, and customized color coatings while reducing the overall coating process times relative to traditional coatings. Meanwhile, the ReadiLYCOAT XC xylitol-based sugar-free sugar coating system cuts down coating time from days to hours.
Both ranges are water-soluble, eliminating the need for organic solvents, reducing environmental impact and cutting carbon emissions.

Coatings market projections
Roquette highlights the global market for pharmaceutical and nutraceutical coatings is projected to reach €2.7 billion (US$2.8 billion) by 2027, driven by increasing demand for innovative, patient-friendly dosage forms.
Coatings allow better patient compliance thanks to taste and odor masking, smoother coatings for easier swallowing and color to differentiate tablets.
