Roelmi HPC’s nutraceutical supplements a natural solution to menopause symptoms, study reveals
19 Sep 2023 --- The nutraceutical actives-based supplement, ExceptionHYAL, has been shown to aid in ameliorating vulvovaginal atrophy, a common condition associated with menopause, according to a recent study.
Conducted in Italy in the summer of 2023 and published in the Journal of Nursing and Women’s Health, the randomized controlled clinical study included 30 women aged between 45 and 65 in menopause and experiencing vulvovaginal atrophy.
All participants underwent radiofrequency with poration for five weeks, while only half of the women orally ingested a capsule a day containing 200 mg of Roelmi Health and Personal Care’s (HPC) ExceptionHYAL Blossom for eight weeks.
The women who took the supplement reported a progressive improvement in their vulvovaginal atrophy symptoms. The positive results from the supplement remained in place during the 16-week follow-up, while the control group did not report similar effects.
Treating vulvovaginal atrophy
The condition is common in women in menopause as a result of diminishing sex steroids, such as estrogen, progestin and androgen. It often leads to the thinning of the vaginal mucosa, loss of elasticity, decreased lubrication, burning and irritation, dyspareunia, dysuria, incontinence, and an increased risk of recurrent urinary infections.
The treatments most administered to medicate or relieve some of the condition’s symptoms include hormonal therapy, moisturizers and anesthetics.
The study found that the supplement can help ameliorate a menopause-associated condition. One study conducted in 2022 by UK-based King’s College London and universities in the US and Australia, as reported by Nutrition Insight, revealed that hormonal therapy may be helpful in some of the most challenging cases of menopause. However, its usage as a treatment should not be normalized for the average woman going through this natural life stage.
ExceptionHYAL Blossom offers a different approach to addressing the discomforts associated with vulvovaginal atrophy.
Innovative ingredients
According to the company, the supplement uses 2.0 full spectrum hyaluronic acid, based on HATech 2.0 technology, a HA fingerprint of targeted defined molecular weights. This process meets the physiological need of vaginal mucosa, increasing glycosaminoglycans, aquaporins and protein synthesis and promoting hydration.
The vulvovaginal atrophy symptoms the product promises to improve are vaginal dryness, itching, pain and urinary urgency.
In-vitro evidence has further revealed that ExceptionHYAL Blossom could facilitate bone mineralization and push the expression of bone proliferation genes, favoring osteogenesis.
ExceptionHYAL Blossom was launched this January alongside the ExceptionHYAL Wink supplement. At the launch of ExceptionHYAL Blossom, Roelmi HPC described the product as designed to stimulate a “flourishing menopause.”
