Phyto-Source Updates Phytosterol Capacity
In January, 2007, Phyto-Source’s plant capacity was successfully increased by over forty percent to meet the increased demand for the company’s cholesterol-lowering food ingredient, Phyto-S-Sterol.
11/06/07 Phyto-Source, L.P., one of the world's leading suppliers of high purity, non-GMO wood (plant) derived sterols, has made significant progress in increasing capacity at their manufacturing facility in Houston, Texas.
In January, 2007, Phyto-Source’s plant capacity was successfully increased by over forty percent to meet the increased demand for the company’s cholesterol-lowering food ingredient, Phyto-S-Sterol. Further process debottlenecking initiatives, technology improvements, and capital additions have resulted in an additional thirty percent capacity increase. The plant’s total output is now 3000 MT per year.
Bill Sonnier, President and CEO of Chusei (USA) and Manager of Phyto-Source, notes that “this recent expansion of our ability to produce high quality phytosterols is our second step in our goal to significantly increase our production volume and capabilities. There will be further expansion of capacity and product varieties at our Houston facility in the near term. We are also moving forward with plans to build a major manufacturing plant in Europe so that we can better serve that market’s growing need for phytosterols.”
