Nutrigold launches next-generation Non-GMO Project verified PlantGels with omega 3
20 Nov 2017 --- Organic supplement company NutriGold has launched its Non-GMO Project verified omega 3 fish oils in next-generation PlantGels – a plant-based vegan softgel made from tapioca. The company’s innovative PlantGels are said to represent a cleaner and healthier alternative to softgels made using carrageenan, bovine, porcine or fish gelatin.
NutriGold points out that PlantGels help to address existing barriers to Non-GMO Project verification for products encapsulated using animal gelatin because of inherent challenges in verifying the non-GMO status of a source animal’s feedstock.

In other recent omega 3 news, the fatty acids have been linked to a boost in gut microbiome diversity by a study by researchers at the University of Nottingham and King’s College London, who found that women who had a higher dietary intake of omega 3 and higher serum levels had a more diverse gut microbiome. Elsewhere, a scientific review of two studies has concluded that children whose mothers consume high-dose omega 3 fatty acids daily during the third trimester – whether through supplementation or eating fish – are less likely to have offspring who develop asthma.
