Nutri Pharmaceuticals Introduces Near Odorless O2P DHA

15/08/06 Nutri Pharmaceuticals Research Inc., a leading developer and marketer of powdered nutritional ingredients, announced the introduction of a near odorless and tasteless DHA oil and companion dry powder.
"The development of our near odorless DHA oil and powder is a direct result of the increasing market demand for the cognitive and cardiovascular health benefits associated with DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid)," noted NPRI President Godfrey Yew.
Small clinical studies have shown DHA increases HDL-cholesterol, the "good" cholesterol known to protect against heart disease, while reducing fats known as triglycerides. Among children, DHA has been shown to be helpful in the development of a healthy nervous system, cognitive development and visual ability.
According to the company, food marketers can now incorporate the near odorless DHA oil directly into salad dressings, dairy products, fruit drinks, confectionaries and like products, adding fortification along with nutrition. "With our near odorless DHA oil, food companies no longer need to worry about micro-encapsulating a fish oil to hide the typical fishy smell and taste of most DHA oils," stated Yew. "Likewise, the dry powder form can add DHA fortification into breads, cakes, cookies and other dry mix products, protein and snack bars, snack foods, powdered formula and drink mixes for infants and children, as well as in nutraceutical formulas," he added.
The powdered DHA uses NPRI's patent-pending O2P oil-to-powder technology, a proprietary process that converts oils to powders at room temperature, under normal atmosphere in an oxygen-free environment. Powders are available in a free-flowing food grade for dry mix, beverage and other food applications and/or direct-compressible powder for capsules and tableting.
