New solution for weight management
Starch’Lite is an aqueous extract of white bean (Phaseolus vulgaris), especially made for consumers who wish to decrease the caloric impact of starchy food (bread, potatoes, pasta, snacks etc.).
05/05/08 Today, more than one billion people in the World suffer from overweight (700 million) or obesity (300 million). In 2006, 41% of American adults and 30% of European adults stated to be trying to lose weight. In 2007, diet products sales reached EUR33.7 billion in Europe and EUR31.2 billion in the USA. Yet, traditional diets are slowing down as new trends provide consumers with products that limit calorie intake and avoid the yoyo effect.
The PNNS (French governmental health policy) recommends to reduce the consumption of simple sugars (due to their effect on insulinemy and weight gain) in favor of complex carbohydrates. In today's environment, allowing to enjoy a meal without gaining weight is an increasing challenge as consumers do not want to be restricted anymore.
Starch’Lite is the solution: an innovative ingredient that reduces the Glycemic Index (GI), Starch’Lite limits calorie intake by reducing the alpha amylase starch hydrolysis.
Starch’Lite is an aqueous extract of white bean (Phaseolus vulgaris), especially made for consumers who wish to decrease the caloric impact of starchy food (bread, potatoes, pasta, snacks…).
Exclusive scientific and clinical studies have proven that Starch’Lite temporarily inhibits the enzyme -amylase and therefore reduces the digestive use of starch. Starch’Lite is a thin and homogenous powder. All-natural, it can be labelled as "white bean extract". In Europe, it is exclusively offered by Ingredia Nutritional.
Starch’Lite decreases the GI by temporarily inhibiting the enzyme alphaamylase produced by the pancreas and the salivary glands. This enzyme is responsible for the digestion of starch into easily assimilated simple sugars. The caloric impact of complex carbohydrates is decreased. The increase of glycemia is less important, the GI of the food lowers. The possibility of conversion from starch to fat is reduced. Weight gain is limited.
Clinical trials concluded that Starch’Lite slows down starch digestion and absorption and decreases the Glycemic Index of food. It assists in weight management by allowing weight loss under certain conditions and by reducing fat mass (waist loss). It does not have any side-effect. Starch’Lite regulates the negative impacts of a carbohydrate-rich diet.
Starch’Lite has a GRAS status (Generally Recognized As Safe) and benefits from two claims approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) in the USA:
• “May reduce enzymatic digestion of dietary starch”
• “May assist in weight control when used in conjunction with a sensible diet and exercise program”
In Europe, the requests of claim authorization from EFSA (European Food Safety Authority) are in progress. Before the definitive EFSA list expected in 2010, Starch’Lite is on the official EHPM list. Starch’Lite is labelled as "white bean extract". It is GMO free and a Kosher quality is available. 500 mg before each carbohydrate-rich meal, either sprayed on food or incorporated in the formulation of starchy food (bread, potatoes, pasta, snacks etc.). Starch’Lite is also suitable for the formulation of food supplements such as pills, soft gels, sticks, gums.
