Lipid Nutrition Awarded for "Excellence in Technology"
One of Lipid Nutrition's key innovations has been Clarinol, an extremely promising type of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA).
14/12/05 Lipid Nutrition, a division of Netherlands-based Loders Croklaan has been selected as the recipient of Frost & Sullivan's 2005 Excellence in Technology Award in the field of nutraceuticals - nutritional lipids. The Award recognises the company's development of novel, natural-origin lipid ingredients, particularly breakthrough products such as Betapol, Clarinol, and Safflorin.
"Lipid Nutrition's strong research and development capabilities are largely derived from the proven expertise of its parent company, Loders Croklaan," remarks Frost & Sullivan Industry Analyst Anil Naidu. "In the same mould as Loders, which has over a century-old tradition in specialty fats and oil design and development, Lipid Nutrition too has been engaged in developing pioneering offerings such as Betapol, Clarinol, and Safflorin."
One of Lipid Nutrition's key innovations has been Clarinol, an extremely promising type of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA). CLA is a combination of different isomers, most importantly c-9, t-11 CLA and t-10, c-12 CLA. These isomers are naturally present in the human diet and are considered as having beneficial health effects and improving body composition. In keeping with its commitment to technological excellence, Lipid Nutrition recently introduced Clarinol A-95, the highest purity form of CLA currently available. Deploying sophisticated mild processing technologies, Lipid Nutrition was able to create a high purity product devoid of all unwanted isomers and by-products. Achieving this level of high purity has also enabled the company to offer concentrated 1-gram capsules to nutraceutical manufacturers.
Derived through a proprietary process from natural safflower, Safflorin isomerised safflower oil represents another product advance. It offers people a naturally effective way to stay healthy by positively stimulating their active immune system. Safflorin is essentially a 40: 60 optimum ratio of the active isomers c-9, t-11 and t-10, c-12 with the enriched t-10, c-12 isomer component regarded as highly effective for supporting the immune system. SafflorinTM is available in a free fatty acid form. The company has been awarded many patent rights - composition, isomer ratio, production, and manufacturing - on its Safflorin product.
