Lifesum Partners with Consupedia for advanced AI-driven food transparency
Nutrition tracking app, Lifesum, reveals it is partnering with Consupedia, a Swedish food insight platform born from academic research, to strengthen food transparency and nutrition personalization. The company says the collaboration will merge Lifesum’s AI-powered health tools with Consupedia’s research-based food data to deliver an informed and inclusive food database.
By integrating advanced AI research from the Swedish KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Consupedia brings a decade’s worth of academic and nutritional insight to Lifesum’s platform. Together, the two companies look to empower users with a more comprehensive understanding of what they eat — down to the nutritional, environmental, and ethical footprints of everyday food choices.
“At Lifesum, we’ve always believed in making healthy living easier through science and technology,” said Henrik Torstensson, CEO of Lifesum. “This partnership gives us access to one of the most robust food data infrastructures available, enabling even more accurate, personalized, and meaningful nutrition guidance for our users.”
AI meets nutrition science
The collaboration arrives at a time when consumers are demanding more transparency and control over their diets. Consupedia’s platform — developed with support from institutions like KTH Royal Institute of Technology and Dalarna University — offers data-rich insights on food products, built with academic rigor and AI.

Lifesum’s Multimodal Tracker supports AI-driven image recognition and voice input, allowing users to log meals and receive personalized feedback in real time. Now, with Consupedia’s data integrated, the feedback will be more comprehensive — factoring in not just calories and macros, but ethical sourcing, ingredient origins, and even environmental impact.
“Our team of AI researchers have spent years developing advanced models to assess the environmental, ethical, and health impact of food products,” says Roberto Rufo Gonzalez, founder of Consupedia. “By integrating our AI-powered insights with Lifesum’s leading nutrition technology, we’re transforming the way people understand their food.”
A database for everyone
The companies state that the partnership’s goal is to build the most inclusive and informed food database in the world. This means accounting for a wide range of dietary needs, cultural food patterns, and personal health metrics — an increasingly important feature in the age of personalized nutrition.
Earlier this year, Lifesum acquired Lykon, a leading European biomarker testing company, enabling the app to offer deeper personalization through biomarker-driven insights. Combined with Consupedia’s food intelligence, Lifesum is positioning itself as a global leader in precision nutrition.
“This partnership reflects our focus on enhancing our data capabilities,” concludes Marcus Gners, co-founder of Lifesum. “As a company dedicated to innovative nutrition and health technology, we’re constantly evolving our platform to better serve our users.”
“We’re exploring how Consupedia’s research expertise will complement our platform to offer users additional information when making food choices that align with their personal health goals.”
