Kappa Bioscience launches first organic-grade vitamin K2-MK7 on US market
24 Oct 2022 --- Kappa Bioscience, a leading manufacturer of vitamin K2 under the brand name K2Vital, is introducing “the first” USDA organic-certified all-trans, all-bioactive vitamin K2-MK7 for oil-based health applications on the US market.
The company will debut the K2Vital MCT Organic vitamin at the upcoming SupplySide West 2022 trade show in Las Vegas, US. Visitors are invited to booth 5845 to discover how Kappa’s vitamin K2 solution is creating new opportunities for health supplement manufacturers to enter the growing organic space with premium products.
Organic demand grows
A recent survey in the US reported that more than 90% of shoppers say organic food products are important to them because they are perceived as healthier, “cleaner” and more environmentally sustainable than conventional alternatives.
A separate report found that 73% of US households purchase dietary supplements and more than half of those make their choice based on organic ingredients. Moreover, consumers trust the organic quality seal more than non-GMO and vegan-approved labels and are also willing to pay a premium for organic products – especially younger generations. According to Kappa, these findings demonstrate a clear demand for organic solutions on the market.
Quality-certified product
K2Vital MCT Organic is certified by Quality Assurance International in line with the US Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) organic program and international standards, giving it the organic seal of approval.
Additionally, it is soy-, palm- and allergen-free, vegan and Halal, Kosher and non-GMO certified. A recent survey found that 90% of shoppers say organic products are important to them.
The solution is available in liquid oil form in several concentrations and sizes and offers a shelf life of 36 months. Customers can easily switch to the organic grade with no formulation adjustments required as its specifications are identical to Kappa’s existing K2Vital MCT oil-based vitamin K2-MK7.
“In the US, organic products are developed according to strict regulations set by the National Organic Program and enforced by the USDA, which are reviewed and updated regularly to reflect the latest health and environmental research,” says Monika Summanwar, senior manager for quality assurance and regulatory affairs at Kappa.
“To meet the stringent USDA criteria, our K2Vital MCT Organic is all-trans K2-MK7 diluted in organic coconut-based medium chain triglyceride (MCT) oil and produced according to the USDA organic certified requirements. This allows our customers to enter the booming organic market with a trusted vitamin K2 solution without a single formulation adjustment.”
Dominik Mattern, EVP of marketing at Kappa, adds: “Our mission is to bring the best possible benefits of vitamin K2 to people worldwide through our mantra of ‘doing it right.’ This means developing products and services that set new standards of excellence, made with integrity and through close collaboration.”
“We’re a climate-positive workforce – constantly challenging ourselves to find greener and more responsible ways of working.”

Kappa will also highlight other ingredients from its vitamin K2 portfolio, including K2Vital Delta – a double-coated microencapsulated all-trans vitamin K2-MK7 offering 99.7% isomeric purity and “unmatched stability.”
K2Vital Delta is patented for compositions combining microencapsulated K2 and minerals like calcium or magnesium.
Ahead of the event, NutritionInsight spoke to Thies Ripcke, director of business development for North America at Kappa, who explained that the vitamin K2 market is witnessing similar trends to those seen across the wider nutraceutical sector.
Furthermore, visitors to stand 5845 can discover the latest findings from the AVADEC study – a research paper exploring the link between vitamin K2 and D supplementation and cardiovascular health.
