Public benefit company Just Björn has announced the launch of its Marine Chitosan fiber supplement derived from the shells of wild-caught shrimp from Iceland’s Arctic and North Atlantic waters.
The formulation supports weight management and metabolic balance while binding dietary fats in the digestive system.
It uses LipoSan Ultra, a clinically studied and pure form of chitosan, known for its fat-binding capacity and consistency.
The company states it is designed to work naturally with meals, supporting digestion, healthy metabolism, and cardiovascular health. It also helps regulate appetite and support sustained energy.
“At Just Björn, we focus on high-quality ingredients — no fillers, no shortcuts,” says Björn Skúlason, founder of Just Björn. “Our Marine Chitosan with LipoSan Ultra reflects that commitment. It’s clean, highly effective, and formulated to support wellness in a way that is sustainable and simple.”

Fiber on trend
The Marine Chitosan comes in capsules with 1,500 mg of chitosan per serving. It does not contain gluten, dairy, soy, sugar, preservatives, stearate, or artificial sweeteners and colors.
Apart from weight management, the supplement also targets normal cholesterol levels, regulates appetite, and boosts energy levels.
It is enhanced with vitamin C and aims to reduce fatigue, protect cells from oxidative stress, and contribute to the normal energy-yielding metabolism and immune system function, says the company.
The launch is tapping into the current fibermaxxing trend driven by social media, bringing gut health to the forefront, and shaping the younger generation’s approach to food. A recent article states that the trend is helping dietary fiber finally get the spotlight it deserves by highlighting the wide range of health benefits of fiber.
“It’s no longer just about fiber quantity but the role different fibers play across gut-brain, gut-immune, and gut-muscle pathways. Manufacturers are responding by prioritizing science-backed prebiotic fibers that deliver benefits beyond basic digestion, transforming familiar foods into multi-functional wellness solutions,” Floor van der Horst, marketing director, Performance and Active Nutrition at FrieslandCampina Ingredients, previously told Nutrition Insight.
