H-Proof scores patent for hangover-alleviating For The Anytime You Drink Vitamin
28 Sep 2021 --- H-Proof has landed a patent for its nutraceutical, The Anytime You Drink Vitamin. The black cherry chewable tablets support alcohol metabolism, promote liver health and restore vital nutrients to help alleviate hangovers after consuming alcohol.
“As humans mature, our bodies produce fewer enzymes, slowing our ability to metabolize alcohol, which can result in toxins and next-day symptoms,” explains Rachel Kaplan, chief executive officer for H-Proof.
“Through our research, we found that by promoting the enzymes that power alcohol metabolism, we can actually neutralize more of these toxins.”
The chewable tablets contain B vitamins, antioxidants, vitamin c, zinc and electrolytes. Their proprietary liver support blend comprises silymarin (from milk thistle seed extract), taurine, DHM and N-acetyl cysteine.
Proprietary supplement
Authored by mother and daughter co-founders Linda Kaplan, MD, and Rachel Kaplan, JD, U.S. Patent No. 11,096,904 addresses what happens in the human body when alcohol is consumed and how nutraceuticals factor into, and impact, the alcohol metabolism process.
“We are thrilled that the US Patent and Trademark Office has recognized our formulation as a truly unique innovation,” Kaplan remarks. “Many nutraceutical companies copy one another, which is why it is important for us to bring new, impactful products that address the core needs of our customers to the marketplace.”
“Our customers, who enjoy a small to moderate amount of alcohol, can wake up feeling surprisingly good after a well-deserved evening of responsible relaxation, and that's something we're really proud of.”
The science of next-day recovery
Marketed claims of hangover-alleviating formulas are still subject to stringent regulation. Over the summer, More Labs’ Morning Recovery dietary supplement was recently made to tone down its hangover recovery claims, following a challenge by the Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN).
In other recent developments in the space, ZBiotics received a patent related to its engineered probiotic drink that breaks down acetaldehyde, a toxic byproduct of alcohol. Last November, German remedy Alcovit entered the US market with claims of lowering the body’s overall blood alcohol content.
