Garden of Life unveils beet powder supplements for heart and liver health
01 Mar 2022 --- Garden of Life is expanding its line of beet supplements to support anti-aging, liver function, heart health as well as skin and nail health. The supplements are available in powder or gummy form and are designed to fill a nutritional gap in many US citizens’ diets.
Notably, a Garden of Life study shows 47% of adults in the US haven’t eaten a beet in the last year, owing to a dislike of the flavor or texture of beets.
“It was clear to us that not enough people were tapping into the health benefits of beets,” says Brian Ray, president of Garden of Life.
“These new beet supplements are full of wholesome, organic ingredients that most US citizens are missing out on every day and they’re available in formats that make getting the daily dose of beets even easier.”
Garden of Life currently has four beet-based supplements available online and in brick-and-mortar locations across the US.
Drink powder and gummies
The beet detox drink powder was created with essential nutrients that promote the body’s natural detoxification mechanism, which aids in weight management and liver function.
This powder contains apple cider vinegar, blackcurrants, acerola fruit juice, ginger, lemon juice, tart cherry and lemon peel extract.
The company’s beet gummies are dubbed “fruit salad in a bottle.”
The gummies contain organic sour cherries, blackcurrants, beets and plant-based vitamin D3. They may be suitable as post-workout supplements due to positive impacts on muscular soreness, improving heart health and energy generation and lowering stress.
Delivering oxygen and nutrients to cells
Beets aid in the efficient delivery of oxygen and nutrients to cells, and studies show that athletes who consume beetroot juice boost their performance. Other lesser-known advantages of beets include energy and stamina boosts, healthy aging support, detoxification promotion, heart and lung health support and lowering blood pressure.
However, Garden of Life’s survey found that only 30% of US citizens have eaten beets in the recent month, with 43% avoiding them because they don’t like the flavor or texture, and 21% are unsure how to prepare them.
According to the study, nearly all US citizens cannot correctly identify the health benefits they are missing out on by not eating beets.
Targeting skin, nails and hair
Garden of Life’s blackberry-melon-flavored drink powder is packed with essential ingredients, including organic French melon, black currant, and acerola cherry, which have all been studied to promote healthy hair, skin, and nails, as well as enhance the body’s resilience to sun-related aging.
The powder also contains nitrates, which aid in improving blood flow and, as a result, collagen formation.
The company has also released beet beauty gummies, which taste like raspberries and are high in antioxidants that promote healthy “youthful” skin.
The Beets Gummies Beauty supplements contain extra ingredients such as organic bamboo silica, biotin and acerola cherry vitamin C to support healthy hair, skin and nails.
Collaborating for magnesium supplements
Garden of Life is also adding additional magnesium supplements to its product range.
When the body is stressed, magnesium has been found to help reduce high blood pressure, headaches, muscle cramps and other stress-related symptoms.
As magnesium deficiency affects 75% of the US population, the Garden of Life team collaborated with David Perlmutter, the doctor behind “Dr. Formulated” products, to develop magnesium supplements for the entire family.
These gummies each contain 400 mg of magnesium. They may aid in better sleep and bone, muscle, digestive and heart health.
Garden of Life previously released a line of infant supplements in the US addressing digestion, immunity and cognition.
