Further Support for ARTINIA's Positive Effects on Arterial Health
The only fiber in the marketplace that supports the bodies’ natural antioxidant system, ARTINIA is beneficial for cardiovascular health by protecting LDL-cholesterol from oxidation.
Sep 20 2011 --- Dr. Karsten Brandt, Nutritional Science Manager with Stratum Nutrition will present “ARTINIA: The Innovative Fiber for Artery Health” October 7 at 12:00, as part of the workshop sessions of NUCE INTERNATIONAL 2011. Dr. Brandt will discuss the science supporting ARTINIA’s ability to support the body’s natural defenses against the oxidation of LDL-cholesterol and overall cardiovascular health. NUCE INTERNATIONAL 2011, the second edition of the Industrial Fair for the Nutraceutical, Cosmeceutical, "Functional Foods & Drinks" and "Health Ingredients" industry will take place at Milan Fair Centre from 5 to 7 October.
After two years of evaluation by EFSA, ARTINIA has been identified as a safe, novel fiber for consumers seeking to increase their daily fiber intake. Earlier this year, the EU Commission followed EFSA’s opinion approving ARTINIA as novel food ingredient. The only fiber in the marketplace that supports the bodies’ natural antioxidant system, ARTINIA is beneficial for cardiovascular health by protecting LDL-cholesterol from oxidation. This has been demonstrated in multiple clinical studies. Notably, oxidized LDL-cholesterol is an emerging risk factor for atherosclerosis and one of the rare biomarkers demonstrating antioxidative properties that has been recognized by EFSA.
According to Michael Faber, Stratum’s World Area Manager for Europe and Asia, “ARTINIA offers unique positioning opportunities to differentiate from other fibers. Due to its high purity ARTINIA shows superior organoleptic properties over common fibers and provides formulators with a high flexibility in the development of various food matrices.” Extensive data on product applications such as dairy products, cereals and cereal bars, baking products, shakes have been generated and are available on request.
