Falama Biotech will distribute Certified Nutraceuticals’ Telos95 in China and Taiwan
29 Mar 2022 --- US-based nutritional ingredients manufacturer Certified Nutraceuticals has entered a distribution partnership with Taipei-based Falama Biotech to market and sell its Telos95 dietary supplement in China and Taiwan.
Telos95 is a dietary supplement that promotes healthy lifespans through the maintenance and protection of telomeres linked to the aging process.
“Falama Biotech is the right partner to help make this happen. Its extensive relationships and scientific and formulation expertise will help customers create new healthy aging and longevity products with Telos95,” says Abdul Alkayali, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Certified Nutraceuticals.
Telos95 is a blend of therapeutic polyphenols from proprietary grapevine and organic olive leaves. It includes antioxidants that protect cells and telomeres from free radical damage.
Correlation between aging and telomeres
The protective caps at the ends of eukaryotic chromosomes are telomeres, which prevent cell degeneration and ensure that cells divide and replicate properly.
According to Certified Nutraceuticals, telomeres shorten and lose function over time, interfering with healthy cell division and hastening cellular aging and eventual senescence.
Telos95 slows down telomere shortening, but it can also lengthen them, allowing healthy cells to live longer. The company details that based on peer-reviewed clinical trials, Telos95 lowered cellular age – as assessed by average telomere length – by an average of 7.42 years in six months. The length of telomeres, the protective endcaps of DNA on chromosomes, is linked to aging.
Additional factors that may lead to the shortening of telomeres include stress, poor diet, environmental pollutants, chronic inflammation and radiofrequency radiation (RFR) from cell phones and cell towers.
The factors cause oxidative DNA damage, which speeds up telomere shortening.
Telomeres essential in healthy aging
The concept of aging well and ingredients that support healthy aging are gaining popularity among consumers.
Supporting this, Innova Market Insights’ data highlighted that the COVID-19 pandemic had brought the importance of healthy aging to the forefront. Consumers worldwide are looking for supplements to help them maintain and improve their health and performance at all stages of life.
Pharmactive Biotech Products unveiled that over the last years, companies within the aging well space have been looking for new concepts that “target the aging population via biological clocks, gene regulation and telomeres.”
Blue California’s ErgoActive ergothioneine was found to help preserve telomere length and reduce the rate of telomere shortening under oxidative stress.
Previously, IFF Health and By-Health collaborated to research anti-aging ingredients, revealing that shorter telomeres are linked to an increased risk of heart disease and Type 2 diabetes.
