The EU has authorized AIDP’s magnesium L-threonate to be used as a Novel Food. The product can now be used in consumer products, bringing a bioavailable option for magnesium supplementation. The North American ingredient supplier adds that it has exclusive rights to the proprietary data used to authorize magnesium L-threonate. Only its partner ThreoTech, which sells the product under the brand name Magtein, and their sublicensees can market magnesium L-threonate in the EU for five years.
