Else Nutrition launches plant-based protein shake as cow-milk alternative for children
18 Jun 2021 --- Else Nutrition, a company specializing in plant-based nutrition for babies, toddlers and children, is launching two plant-based protein shakes.
The clean-label, complete nutrition, plant-based protein shakes are aimed at children aged three and above.
“The challenges were to create a complete nutrition product with a whole food ingredients composition, with minimal processing and without using any protein concentrates or isolates which involve chemicals or solvent extraction,” Hamutal Yitzhak, CEO of Else Nutrition, tells NutritionInsight.
Else’s shakes for children are designed to be a dairy-free alternative to cow milk. The whole Else range is physician-approved and contains protein, carbohydrates and healthy fats. It also offers over 20 critical components children need to sustain their growth.
The plant-based shakes have new protein formulas made with whole organic almonds, buckwheat and tapioca, which comprise 95 percent of the product’s weight. They are available in chocolate or vanilla flavors.
Clean label demands surge
Innova Market Insights data shows that the clean label industry is rising with an average annual growth of 7 percent between 2015 to 2019. The top market category for clean label food and beverages is baby and toddler products. These experienced a 5 percent CAGR increase between 2015 and 2019.
Additionally, in line with the clean label industry, infant nutrition evolves to meet a variety of needs, ranging from allergies to anxiety.
With this in mind, Else products are minimally processed, organic whole plant foods that are free of dairy, whey, soy, corn syrup, artificial additives and preservatives.
Plant-forward motion
The Else shakes can be used as a milk alternative, a meal replacement or served alongside meals. They can also be incorporated into various dishes, including smoothies, pancakes, and muffins.
Innova Market Insights’ trend for 2021 “Plant-Forward” reveals the growing mainstream appeal for a plant-based diet is driving expansion to more market categories and regions.
This second product line follows Else’s original toddler plant-based nourishment formula launched last year.
