Drinkable boost: GacLife launches superfruit drinks which “aid in sleep, energy and detoxification”
04 Mar 2019 --- GacLife, a supplier of beverages infused with the superfruit Gấc, has launched five new daily health beverages the company claims aid in sleep, skin health, energy, relaxation and detoxification. GacLife took one of the world’s rarest superfruits, Gấc (Momordica cochinchinensis) and created an all-natural, organic, vegan health drink with no added sugars.
And in October 2018, GacLife launched its initial range to US markets, that was pegged as the world’s first line of gac-based wellness products that help promote skin and vision care.
GacLife beverages have been touted as an all-natural drinkable “beauty boost,” supported by scientific research and packed with 90 different healing compounds. The Gấc fruit is found in certain Southeast Asian regions and is recognized for its power because of its high concentration of carotenoids, antioxidants and other nutrients.
Superfruits are increasingly finding their way into sports nutrition products, as consumer awareness of their nutrient-density rises and research continues to promote health benefits.
The rarity of the Gấc fruit is reflected in its usage across categories, however, there is notable growth. Data from Innova Market Insights reveals a 41 percent CAGR for product launches tracked with Gấc fruit as an ingredient since 2015, while 2018 saw the most activity to date, largely influenced by GacLife’s expanding portfolio.
Gấc’s potent phytonutrients, including highly bioavailable carotenoids, provide powerful antioxidant protection for the whole body, reports the company. One 12 oz. can of GacLife beverages includes 20mg of carotenoids, which is equal to consuming one head of cabbage, five large tomatoes, 15 large carrots and 30 bunches of spinach.
“Our new product line is designed to provide organic solutions to everyday health and wellness problems,” says Founder and CEO of GacLife, Yin Zou.
“We see the success of CBD-infused products, and other beverages like kombucha, driven by a strong consumer demand in natural products that address issues ranging from digestion, fatigue to stress, mood and sleep. We have subsequently developed our product line to answer this consumer demand in seven functional ready-to-drink categories,” Zou explains.
Gac Relax, for example, includes four grams of organic Kava root in each can. Kava has traditionally been used for its power to calm the body and mind, providing healthy relaxation. “We believe Kava offers a more effective alternative to CBD and it’s going to set us apart,” Zou adds.
Gac’s full-line of healthy drink solutions not only encourage healthy eating, but also contribute to a higher standard of wellness, says the company. Gac is now available in seven functional categories:
- Cleanse - Detoxifying activated charcoal, nettle, dandelion and cranberry juice help remove toxins while improving digestion and immunity.
- Sleep – Calming chamomile passionflower and natural electrolytes help support nerve function and revitalize the body during sleep.
- Hydrate – Gấc’s flagship sparking antioxidant water, with mango or passion fruit replenishes antioxidants which prevent environmental damage.
- Energy – Revitalizing green tea, ginseng, guarana, and sparkling water boost concentration, maintain alertness, and reduce mental and physical fatigue.
- Sport – Refreshing with lemon juice and natural electrolytes help reduce inflammation and regulate muscle and nerve function.
- Beauty – Skin-rejuvenating coenzyme Q10 and blueberries revitalize the body and help prevent signs of aging.
- Relax – Soothing, tranquil kava blend with lemon and raspberry offer natural stress relief, replenishes antioxidants and promotes a relaxed state of mind.
Gac comes in a six-pack of 12oz recyclable aluminum that is shelf-stable and offers an easy, on-the-go solution, says the company. Per can, Gấc has the lowest amount of added sugar (0 gm), the highest amount of antioxidant carotenoids (20 mg) and the lowest calorie count compared with other mainstream beverage products.
Gac is available in retail stores in California, in the US and online.
In January 2019, NutritionInsight reported that GacLife was eyeing new opportunities in the sports nutrition market with the addition of Gac Sports to its range.
