GOS (Galacto-oligosaccharides) is the non-digestible carbohydrate that reaches the colon intact and is hydrolyzed by specific positive members of the colon microflora. It acts as prebiotic and has been widely used in food & beverages, pharmaceuticals, confectionery and especially in infant formula to soften the stools of formula-fed babies.
Lactoferrin is a glycoprotein, and a member of a transferrin family. It plays a role in binding iron in the gut and breaking open the cell membranes of microorganisms. Lactoferrin is used as a functional ingredient in many finished products like baby foods, yoghurt, cereals and food supplements.
