Conjugated linoleic acid helps lose weight and keep it off
Study published in The Journal of Nutrition confirms that conjugated linoleic acid helps safe and effective weight loss.
04/04/05 A new study published in The Journal of Nutrition confirms that a naturally occurring fatty acid can help consumers safely and effectively lose weight, and keep it off.
Research has shown that almost all dieters regain the weight they've lost within five years. By contrast, study participants taking a conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) supplement for two years lost body fat and didn't regain it.
Another important finding is that CLA supplementation helps lower levels of leptin. High levels of leptin are associated with increased weight. Over the course of 24 months, leptin levels dropped 20-35 percent as study subjects lost body fat.
The findings are a continuation of a landmark study published last spring in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, which revealed that CLA reduced body fat mass in overweight, but otherwise healthy, adults by as much as 9 percent.
The CLA used in this study was TONALIN CLA, an exclusive product of the Cognis Group. TONALIN, the number one consumer brand of CLA, is intended to help consumers lose body fat, maintain lean body mass, prevent fat regain and contribute to improved overall health. Scientists at Cognis have developed a specialized process to derive CLA from safflower oil, thereby making it a healthy choice for consumers. Since most pill capsules are created with some animal product, vegetarians can use the syrup form of TONALIN CLA.
