Capilano in Prebiotic Honey World Debut
06 Oct 2016 --- The world’s first clinically-tested prebiotic honey is on the shelves of Australian supermarkets and pharmacies as producers Capilano lament its potential health benefits. Beeotic helps boost digestive health, is 100 percent natural Australian honey, and is listed with the Therapeutic Goods Administration as a therapeutic good.
The launch of Beeotic follows an extensive research study in collaboration with the University of New South Wales to identify the prebiotic health benefits of Australian honey, including how it can naturally boost digestive health.
“Recent findings have revealed strong links between stress, food intolerances, sleep deprivation and mental health to gut bacteria. Research conducted in the US, UK and Australia has concluded that diverse and abundant gut bacteria is key for achieving optimal health,” says Capilano.

Beeotic has clinically shown to improve the good-to-bad bacteria in the gut by nourishing beneficial bacteria, increasing the good lactobacillus and bifidobacteria and suppressing bad bacteria and reducing clostridium.
Capilano adds the clinical study showed a dose of just 14ml a day, about a tablespoon, led to improve the good-to-bad bacteria ratio in the gut. Research first began in 2009 with the first clinical study with UNSW in 2012 to assess the prebiotic health potential.
“Whilst the scientific community has long believed honey to be a good source of prebiotics, until this time there had never been any human clinical studies to support this. The clinical study showed that particular honey types significantly raised the levels of good bacteria and suppressed harmful bacteria in the digestive tract. Added to this, levels of ‘good’ bacteria decreased once the participants stopped taking the honey for a period of time.”

The new honey product was officially launched by Australian politician and Premier, of Queensland, Annastacia Palaszczuk, who says it will also be targeted to the Chinese market.
