Calcium and Whey Protein May Enhance Weight Loss
The satiety effect of whey protein and the positive effects of a high calcium intake on the metabolism, suggest that calcium and whey may facilitate a favorable body weight and composition.
02/06/09 One of the studies suggests that calcium in dairy products has a greater effect on weight loss than calcium supplements. Another study has shown that the percentage of fat lost from the trunk region increases with an increasing calcium intake. Although obesity in itself is a potential hazard, fat deposition in the trunk region is more health hazardous than fat deposited elsewhere on the body. One of the proposed mechanisms be-hind the relationship between calcium intake and body weight is the positive effect of a high calcium in-take on the metabolism.
Whey protein is an ideal choice when you want to loose weight. During the last decade, whey protein has been the key ingredient in numerous weight loosing and meal replacement products. Studies have shown that individuals combining diets with protein sources rich in leucin, such as whey protein with physical exercise, have a better ability to loose weight. Whey protein may also contribute to a weight loss by stimulating satiety. Casein glyco macro peptid (CGMP) that is present in whey protein concen-trate has also been proposed to have a regulating effect on satiety by stimulating the satiating hormone CCK.
