Brenntag enters European distribution partnership for animal nutrition “absorption accelerator”
Brenntag’s Animal Nutrition arm has entered an exclusive distribution agreement with Pathway Intermediates, a European manufacturer of absorption enhancers within the category.
The agreement covers the distribution of Lipidol, which is marketed as the “first absorption accelerator” for the animal nutrition industry in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), Benelux and Nordic regions.
The Lipidol range contains highly concentrated functional lysophospholipids. Lipidol is designed to accelerate nutrient absorption, enhance livestock performance and minimize nutrient and energy losses in the feed.
This new agreement builds on “extensive experience” gained in the cooperation between the companies in CEE with the Lipidol range since 2014.
“Pathway Intermediate’s Lipidol range complements Brenntag’s existing Animal Nutrition portfolio of performance enhancers,” comments Wouter Vullings, director of Brenntag Animal Nutrition EMEA.
“This agreement supports our long-term strategic goal to expand our presence as a leading Animal Nutrition solutions and ingredient supplier in the Animal Nutrition and Pet Food industries in the EMEA region.”
Edward Youngman, CEO of Pathway Intermediates, anticipates the extended partnership will allow Pathway Intermediates to expand its footprint to full market coverage in these key regions and efficiently serve a number of new customers through the dedicated Brenntag team.

“Joining forces in this way has been a successful journey in CEE already. We look forward to a fruitful continuation and expansion of our cooperation that will benefit both parties and their customers,” he comments.
Pathway Intermediates — the global animal nutrition brand of Easy Bio — was founded in 2001 in the UK and acquired by Easy Bio of Korea in 2016. Easy Bio was founded in 1988 and has a reported turnover of €3 billion (US$3.2 billion).
Brenntag activities
In other distribution activities, Brenntag entered an exclusive agreement with FrieslandCampina Ingredients to distribute its Biotis ingredients — supporting gut, brain and immune health — in France last July. Brenntag is handling the complete Biotis portfolio, including Biotis GOS (galactooligosaccharides) — an ingredient known for its stability, long shelf life and ability to promote the growth of beneficial Bifidobacteria.
In the same month, Brenntag announced an exclusive distribution partnership with Cargill for the company’s EpiCor postbiotic ingredient, which has been shown to help support immune and gut health functions. The agreement covers most of Europe.
Earlier this year, the supplier expanded its partnership with Royal Avebe, the world’s largest producer of potato starch and protein. This expanded distribution agreement extends Royal Avebe’s product offerings to Brenntag’s customers in the United Kingdom and Ireland, in addition to existing markets across Europe.
