Algarithm Ingredients and De Wit Speciality Oils forge multi-year distribution partnership
09 Nov 2023 --- De Wit Speciality Oils and Algarithm Ingredients have joined forces for a multi-year distribution partnership. The collaboration builds upon Algarithm’s recent partnership with Thai Union Ingredients and aims to create an efficient European algal omega-3 supply chain.
The move will make Algarithm accessible to a wider audience by distributing its ingredients throughout Europe. The companies look to expand the reach of Algarithm’s fish-free omega 3 ingredient distribution.
“De Wit is delighted to announce this new partnership,” says Gertjan de Wit, director of De Wit Speciality Oils. “As long-term, reliable and consistent suppliers to the European specialty lipids market, we believe that in working with Algarithm we can improve our offering to our existing customers and new customers.”
“Together, we believe that Algarithm and De Wit can provide a dependable and differentiated plant-based ingredient solution to customers throughout Europe,” states Ben Kelly, president of Algarithm. “This new partnership will allow us to expand our distribution reach, giving Algarithm a presence in a geography it has not targeted since inception.”
Proliferating plant-based omegas
A leading innovator in sustainably grown algae-based ingredients, Algarithm says it utilizes innovative approaches to both the cultivation and manufacturing of algae-based products. The process involves sourcing omega-3s directly from algae, providing brands and consumers with a secure, sustainable and safe source of this essential nutrient. The partnership will help proliferate algal-based omega oils in Europe.
Algarithm further states that sensory and customer experience are a driving force behind its innovative ingredients that have received approvals and certifications from regulatory bodies worldwide, including The Non-GMO Project, The Vegan Society, Health Canada and the European Food Safety Authority. As a result, its ingredients are trusted and utilized by leading global infant nutrition, supplement and food and beverage companies.
Additionally, De Wit Speciality Oils — a company that has been involved in seed cultivation and oil production since 1978 — specializes in oils that are rich in omega-3s and omega-6s for nutraceuticals, food, cosmetics and animal nutrition. The company says the partnership represents a significant step forward in increasing the availability of sustainable omega ingredients in Europe.
Algorithm also recently teamed up with Natures Crops — also a partner of De Wit Speciality Oils — to develop algal-based omega oils.
De Wit highlights that the two companies can now offer “the most efficient, secure and safe supply chain, for superior and sustainable omega-3 algae products in Europe.”
Moreover, the companies state that the partnership will make a lasting impact for the nutrition industry while contributing to a healthier and more sustainable future.
