Taiyo’s prebiotic ingredients boost Regular Girl’s solutions for urinary tract health
27 Feb 2020 --- With gut-health remaining a top consumer concern, Regular Girl seeks to disrupt the space with the launch of its functional beverage powder Regular Girl Wellness. The product is targeting women’s health and boasts natural ingredients and a dual-action formula that also addresses urinary tract health. To boost its prebiotic effect, the powder contains Taiyo’s Sunfiber prebiotic fiber and SunCran organic Cranberry Juice Powder.
“We strive to make digestive health easier for women to talk about while addressing serious issues. Regular Girl answers women’s need for a clean, synbiotic fiber/probiotic blend that delivers true regularity without embarrassing side effects associated with other fibers, and unnecessary carriers and fillers,” Molly Lawson, Marketing Director, Regular Girl, tells NutritionInsight.
She adds that Regular Girl is tasteless, colorless and dissolves completely in beverages and foods. “We’ve even put an emphasis on supporting women’s active lifestyles with branded water bottles and convenient on-the-go stick packs,” Lawson notes.
“Regular Girl Wellness, builds on a synbiotic concept and applies it to urinary tract health. This product combines organic cranberry juice powder with prebiotic Sunfiber and probiotics to create a dual-action formula targeting both the gut and urinary tract,” Derek Timm, PhD, RDN, Technical Sales Director, Taiyo (Sunfiber), tells NutritionInsight. This is important because bacteria that cause urinary tract infection often originate in the gut. Anything that targets both areas offers a more comprehensive solution,” he says.
Each serving of Regular Girl Wellness provides 3 g of prebiotic soluble fiber (Sunfiber) to nourish the good gut bacteria; three billion active Lactobacillus acidophilus probiotics, which work in harmony with Sunfiber to promote good bacteria; and straight-from-the-farm organic cranberry powder (equal to six 8 oz glasses of unsweetened cranberry juice). Cranberries are an all-natural source of soluble proanthocyanidins (PACs) without the added sugar commonly found in cranberry cocktails, the brands underscores.
“Gut bacteria are a common source of urinary tract issues, which makes it extra important to have a good gut microbiome. Sunfiber is a 100 percent soluble prebiotic fiber. This means it dissolves completely in water and doesn’t gel up like other common fiber sources. This makes it easy and enjoyable to drink plain or with a favorite beverage,” Timm says.
He also notes that Sunfiber has over 100 human clinical trials to support its efficacy. “Moreover, Sunfiber has a number of certifications that our customers demand, including Non-GMO Project Verification, Low FODMAP certification, Glyphosate Residue Free certification, True-ID DNA testing and Kosher certification,” he says.
Tapping into women’s health
Regular Girl Wellness is also included in the brand’s affiliate program, to the benefit of nutritionists, dietitians and other program participants. “Healthcare professionals are already taking notice of Regular Girl Wellness because it helps to simplify how women can manage both their gut and urinary tract health,” affirms Timm.
The product will be showcased at the upcoming Expo West in Anaheim, US (March 3 to 7). There the brand will offer stick packs of Regular Girl Wellness for the attendees to try.
“Stick packs are a packaging option Regular Girl offers for the original, and now Regular Girl Wellness, for its convenience and product protection. Consumers find they are convenient to carry and they can store packages in multiple locations or share with friends,” Timm explains
“In addition, stick packs eliminate the hassle of having to transport a canister around. Overall, consumers seek packaging options that make their lives easier or fit into their usage patterns. Also, Regular Girl has found that a 30-day supply is the sweet spot of package size,” he adds.
