SVZ has been putting more focus on vegetable ingredients lately, and with good reason. “It was actually the sugar discussion which really led to more inclusion of vegetables,” notes Johan Cerstiaens. In the past, vegetables were more of a stealth ingredient, so people put them on packaging for a more natural claim, Cerstiaens notes. Now vegetables are more prominent in SVZ’s products, with the inclusion rate going up from 10 percent to 50 percent of vegetables. Thus, the company has invested a lot in a wider portfolio of vegetables for naturalness and nutritional value reasons.
