“Worry-free” CBD: Peels rolls out orange-derived alternative to hemp and cannabis
04 Aug 2021 --- US-based Peels has launched its molecularly identical CBD oil made from orange peels. The supplement is made through a proprietary process that yields CBD that is free from trace THC and impurities — byproducts that may appear in cannabis and hemp-derived CBD products.
Peels CBD Oil is positioned to offer a “worry-free CBD experience” and make CBD’s benefits “accessible to all.” This includes consumers in stressful and physically demanding fields of work, such as professional sports, military and first responders who are subject to periodic drug testing.
Even if used medicinally, CBD has been previously prohibited in these professions. This is due to the unregulated amounts of THC found in cannabis and hemp-derived CBD products, which could be detected in drug tests.
“Because our CBD is made from orange peels, we have a tremendous opportunity to reach [new] target audiences and potentially enter channels our competitors cannot, thus expanding the existing CBD market and improving the lives of more people,” says Chris Hetherington, CEO of Peels and an 11-year National Football League (NFL) veteran.
“We’re taking all of the impurities and inconsistencies out of the equation. We know Peels is going to revolutionize the way people view and use CBD.”

CBD interacts with the human endocannabinoid system to deliver all-natural results.
With consistent use, Peels’ CBD oil is marketed to restore balance and inner calm, manage everyday stresses, ease pain and soothe joints from exercise and help maintain healthy sleep cycles.
“We believe our CBD products deserve a spot right next to your vitamins as part of your daily wellness ritual,” affirms Hetherington.
In addition to the holistic benefits of its CBD, Peels also delivers on taste and aroma. Peels’ scent and taste come from natural, organic citrus flavor and organic medium-chain triglycerides (MCT) oil from coconut. The result gives Peels CBD Oil an orange creamsicle-like taste.
Nature in, nature out
Peels’ process of deriving high-purity CBD from orange peels is called Cyclic Terpene Assembly. This technique combines organic molecules without with use of solvents or destroying the product’s essence.
This process combines terpenes from orange peels with olivetol, a naturally occurring organic compound, under heat and pressure in the presence of a catalyst.
After minimal processing, the result is crystalline CBD “unmatched” in purity and consistency.
Everything that goes into the process is found in nature and everything that comes out of the process is found in nature, the company says.
Alternatives to alternative pain relief
Industry is innovating to bring more alternatives CBD as consumer interest picks up. Last September, Amyris commercialized a CBD alternative called cannabigerol (CBG) with its scaling up using industrial fermentation.
Meanwhile, Symrise has leveraged its own “nature-identical” CBD using upcycled ingredients from the orange juice industry. Its Canapure CBD alternative is based on D-limonene, which belongs to a group of terpenes.
In 2020, Innova Market Insights named “A Star is Born” as one of its top ten trends for the year, pointing to ingredients like CBD, which have quickly “claimed fame” in NPD.
