Vitafoods Asia 2023: PhytoGaia and MPOC team up to showcase sustainable palm phytonutrient solutions
05 Sep 2023 --- In conjunction with the Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC), nutraceutical supplier PhytoGaia is set to co-exhibit innovations in sustainably sourced palm-based nutraceutical offerings and ingredients at Vitafoods Asia in Bangkok, Thailand (September 20-22).
The company will focus on its science-backed palm tocotrienol and tocopherol complex TocoGaia, its mixed-carotene complex CaroGaia and its squalene and tocotrienols complex ingredient, STGaia.
“Our primary goal is to raise awareness of the health benefits and applications of palm phytonutrients,” Dr. Ariati Aris, PhytoGaia’s scientific affairs specialist, tells Nutrition Insight. “We will have informative displays – from ingredients to finished product samples, allowing attendees to get up close and personal with our offerings.”
“We offer a comprehensive experience, featuring product exhibits, research insights, as well as solutions and ideas for new product formulation or reformulation of existing SKU’s (stock-keeping units), particularly in cases where our branded ingredients such as tocotrienols, squalene and tocotrienol complex and mixed-carotene can add significant value.”
PhytoGaia plains to showcase its konjac gummy concept at Vitafoods Asia in Bangkok, Thailand.Aris also states that attendees can access recent scientific discoveries and whitepapers demonstrating the diverse health benefits and wide-ranging applications of the company’s products and receive formulating guidance from the exhibition team.
“We will also share with participants the recent and upcoming market trends and product concepts as well as their delivery dosages,” Aris explains. “This information will enable them to formulate dietary supplements and health foods with our branded ingredients, tailored to their specific interests and target markets.”
“Essentially, we will work hand in hand with them from concept to formulation with the right dosage, production, sales and marketing to ensure successful completion of the project.”
Sustainable extraction
The company further highlights its sustainable sourcing and extraction processes, noting that both TocoGaia and STGaia are derived from palm fruits without the use of harmful solvents, chemicals or methyl ester residue.
Additionally, the company states that its branded ingredients adhere to stringent European Legislations – Commission Regulation (EU) 2015/1933 – and are free from carcinogenic contaminants such as dioxins, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and Benzo[a]Pyrene.
“TocoGaia and STGaia stand out in the market due to their exceptional and unique product quality attributes, achieved through a proprietary manufacturing process,” says Aris. “Our proprietary extraction processes ensure that these palm phytonutrient products are naturally extracted, without the use of solvents and chemicals, which are unmatched by any other tocotrienol producers in the market.”
“Furthermore, our palm phytonutrient ingredients are extracted from sustainably sourced palm fruits (Elaeis guineensis) and a responsibly managed source as we actively support initiatives that safeguard the environment and local communities,” Aris underscores.
Diverse applications
PhytoGaia states that its products offer application versatility for functional food, cosmetic, personal care, pharmaceutical and nutraceutical solutions.
“We offer a range of formats, including softgels, powders and liquid concentrates,” Aris highlights. “Our dosage options are designed to provide flexibility for formulators and manufacturers, ensuring a perfect fit with customers’ product portfolio.”
“While many companies can produce water-dispersible powder using maltodextrin and modified starch, only few can develop and offer stable and clean ingredients using natural excipients like acacia gum,” he states. “Our TocoGaia and STGaia are available in various forms, including oil suspension, beadlets and water-dispersible powder.”Dr. Ariati Aris highlights the sustainable practices of the company’s palm phytonutrient sourcing.
He also notes that TocoGaia Powder and STGaia Powder contain acacia gum, a natural dietary fiber acknowledged by the US Food and Drug Administration, as opposed to “chemically-derived modified starch or maltodextrin.”
Konjac jellies
The company will also showcase its konjac jelly concept at the trade show. PhytoGaia states that by utilizing creative delivery methods like konjac jelly and convenient powdered beverages, it ensures that consumers can enjoy their products with assurance, enjoying aspects such as visual attractiveness, flavor and safety.
“What sets us apart is not only the use of the exceptional natural excipients and ingredients but also our commitment to innovation,” Aris affirms. “We have created a product that not only tastes delicious but also aligns with modern health-conscious consumer preferences – it is low in calories, sugar-free and suitable for various dietary preferences, including vegan and gluten-free diets.”
“Moreover, our konjac jelly serves as a versatile snack or ingredient for culinary applications,” he concludes. “Its unique combination of flavors and health benefits caters to a wide range of consumers, making it an attractive option for health-conscious individuals, fitness enthusiasts, beauty-from-within and those seeking indulgence without compromising on nutrition.”
