Shaklee taps into personalized nutrition for prenatal development and pregnancy support
09 Nov 2022 --- Shaklee is expanding its Meology line with the introduction of Meology Prenatal to assist each of the three natal stages. The new products – Prenatal MultiV Drink Mix, MultiM Tablet and the Omega 3 Gellys – aim to meet women’s nutritional requirements from conception until delivery.
Shaklee and Vitamin Angels are also collaborating on a “buy one, give one” program. According to the program, every purchase of Meology Prenatal contributes to giving nutritional support to pregnant women and children in need worldwide.
“Up to 95% of women fail to get enough of the key nutrients that are foundational for a healthy pregnancy," says Roger Barnett, chairman and CEO at Shaklee Corporation. "We created Meology Prenatal to help families obtain the foundational nutrition they need with personalized, science-backed vitamins delivered conveniently.”
“In this special time of a woman’s life, we know that they require specific vitamins and nutrients to help prepare their bodies for conception, ensure the baby is healthy and growing and address the changes they experience postpartum," explains Barnett. "Meology Prenatal is a science-backed solution that caters to these special needs experienced during each phase.”
Packed for wholesome prenatal nutrition
The Core Nutrition pack has three products that provide 225 mg of choline, 250 mg of DHA and 23 critical vitamins and minerals in simple-to-take formats.
The pack includes the Prenatal MultiV Drink Mix, pegged as a refreshing, easy-to-drink, powdered multivitamin drink mix that contains all essential vitamins, eight major trace minerals and 225 mg of choline.
Also included in the pack is the MultiM Tablet, which is available in an easy-to-swallow tablet format and contains minerals necessary at every stage of motherhood.
Lastly, the Omega 3 Gellys are available in a strawberry lemonade-flavored chewable jelly format with 250 mg DHA to aid in developing a baby’s eyes and brain.
Shaklee’s scientists developed Meology Prenatal to provide the nutrition a mother and baby need at each stage of pregnancy.“Whether you are hoping to become pregnant, are already pregnant or are nursing, it’s imperative to ensure you’re getting proper nutrients," says Jamie McManus, medical doctor and chair of medical affairs at Shaklee. "For a myriad of reasons, it can be challenging to get everything you need from diet alone."
“Our aim while developing Meology Prenatal was to develop science-backed, great-tasting products supporting healthy moms and healthy babies using proven ingredients with Shaklee’s extensive screening and testing,” McManus adds
The Meology program
In addition to DNA and blood test data, expecting mothers can manually input a brief evaluation and Shaklee’s Meology program, first released in September 2020, says it can identify the precise nutrition that an individual requires based on biology, lifestyle and health goals.
A complex algorithm drives the program with a patent application and a product recommendation engine that provides nutrition advice tailored to the consumer.
The company used its clinically proven nutrition expertise to create Meology Prenatal, carefully formulated with “clean, effective and proven ingredients” that are safe for mom and baby.
Shaklee adds that every stage of the program complies with the guidelines provided by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the daily value needs.
In addition to the core supplements, Meology Prenatal addresses the common discomforts women may experience during their pregnancy, such as occasional sleep issues, stress, leg cramps, mild indigestion, morning sickness and constipation.
Multivitamin drink mix and collagen solutions
In spotlighting Shaklee’s previous moves, the company released Meology Kids – a customized, all-in-one vitamin gummy pack for children to expand its nutrition program. Meology Kids is available in personalized packaging with icons and a child’s name and is appropriate for children aged four and older.
The company introduced the Essential MultiV drink, pegged as a “convenient” vitamin powder with peach and mango flavors. The drink mix may provide vital minerals that could bridge dietary gaps in nutrition–therefore, it is regarded as an appropriate multivitamin option.
Furthermore, during Healthy Aging month in September, Shaklee spotlighted its antioxidant products and the Shaklee Collagen-9, which contains 10 g of collagen and a combination of biotin and vitamin C to promote healthy skin, hair, nails and joints.
