Refyned battles pill fatigue with dissolvable supplement strips for sleep and vitamin D3 boost
07 Feb 2022 --- US-based Refyned is releasing two vitamin supplements – Sleep+ and D3 Sunshine Support in dissolvable strip formats. The portable and easy-to-consume supplement strips come as consumers are looking for convenient vitamin formats.
“We have created a product that will appeal to consumers who are looking for a better way to take supplements,” says David Trecek, CEO of Refyned.
“We started Refyned as customers and wellness seekers ourselves, searching for a better way to supplement that didn’t involve swallowing pills.”
All-in-one strip
According to Refyned, all of the benefits of vitamin supplements have been condensed into a dissolvable strip that doesn’t require swallowing or a glass of water to use.
The company adds that the D3 Sunshine Support vitamin strip enhances the amount of vitamin D3 the body receives. It is absorbed nearly instantly in the mouth as an oral-film vitamin strip.
Meanwhile, the Sleep+ strip is developed with melatonin, vitamin B6, beta-caryophyllene, GABA and L-theanine to provide a comfortable night’s sleep.
Doctors, academics and a pharmaceutical business cooperated with the start-up to develop enhanced vitamin strips that make healthy habits more accessible to everyone.
“We figured it was time that vitamins got a bit of an upgrade. So, we went to the drawing board and narrowed down the format to a quick-dissolve strip that you place between your cheek and gum. It makes it easier to get into good habits no matter whether you are at home or on the go.”
Supplement demand shapes vitamin D3 offering
This supplement release comes at a time when consumers are looking to boost their immune systems: “During the last two years, we have all become keenly aware of the need to boost and maintain our immune systems and vitamin D3 is a key component in that process.”
Adding to the potential of vitamin D’s ability to boost the immune system, the Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN) stated that increasing data links a higher vitamin D blood level with a lower occurrence and severity of COVID-19.
“Furthermore, the ongoing pandemic has dramatically increased levels of anxiety leading to deficiency in normal sleep patterns. This led us to be very intentional in bringing products to market that would address these indications in the short-term while providing long-term benefits through consistent use.”
Beneficial for sleep and vitamin D support
Refyned states that more variations will be launched in the coming months.
The company notes that vitamin D3 is created naturally by the body when skin is exposed to sunlight. However, the body tends to suffer from a vitamin D deficit throughout the winter months or extended time spent indoors.
Refyned states there will be a strong market for alternatives to vitamin supplements. It is searching for partnerships with healthcare practitioners, shops and non-profit groups around the country.
“We expect the market to grow further as we continue to roll out new products and look forward to seeing what the future brings for the Refyned brand,” says Trecek.
Considering the Sleep+ supplement, the Healthy Marketing Team previously stated that mental well-being was the top health trend impacting the supplement space.
Supplement demand and shifting formats
Previously the Swedish government stated that elderly people – 65 years and older – should supplement with vitamin D every day. The supplement could slash the risk of hip fractures by up to 30%.
According to industry experts, new and increasing formats such as gummies, drops and drink powders are providing consumers with personalized options in the supplement industry.
