11/11/05 Pronova Biocare, the world's leading supplier of concentrated Omega-3 fatty acids (EPA/DHA), has developed a unique process to deodorize its EPAX triglyceride (TG) oils. These deodorized oils are virtually without taste and smell. The process is based on modern, innovative technology using enzymes for the triglyceride formation, securing a milder treatment of the oils in relation to traditional chemical processes.
"The deodorized Omega-3 TG concentrates will bring new opportunities to our customers, enabling them to reach target groups focused on taste and smell," said Anders-Morten Blindheim, Director for the EPAX Business Unit at Pronova Biocare. "We see particular advantages and new possibilities for applications where deodorized Omega-3 oils are of major significance, including chewable capsules and liquid formulas."
The deodorized products available are EPAX 6000 TG/N, EPAX 1050 TG/N, EPAX 5500 TG/N, EPAX 4510 TG/N and EPAX 6015 TG/N. The deodorized product assortment is part of the EPAX "Purity, Quality, Innovation" (PQI) concept. Incorporated throughout the company, it ensures that EPAX provides customers with the best products, service and support at all times. The result is pure, safe and modern products that give customers the opportunity to capitalize on the Omega-3 market most efficiently.
The knowledge of the health benefits of marine Omega-3 fatty acids is growing worldwide. Scientific evidence continues to mount, representing an opportunity for the treatment and prevention of common diseases. The American Heart Association and the World Health Organization both support the addition of Omega-3 fatty acids to the diet, citing their importance in maintaining good health.
At Pronova Biocare, each production run of Omega-3 carries full quality control documentation to ensure that the highest purity and quality standards are maintained. Chemical analyses take place at every crucial stage and the most stringent, hygienic conditions are applied throughout Pronova Biocare operations.
EPAX products are produced in Pronova's cGMP certified state-of-the-art facilities to meet the highest quality standards possible. The products comply with the CRN voluntary monograph and all other known regulations. Pronova has gone beyond these standards and recently lowered the limits for all relevant organic pollutants and heavy metals in the product specification to reflect their commitment to purity.
