Prebiotic table top sweetener
The company writes that the benefits of the sweetener are that it helps weight control because it has 60% less calories than the same amount of sugar.
02/02/05 Healthia Swiss has launched a fiber based reduced calorie sweetener for baking, cooking and table use at the ISM sweets and confectionery exhibition in Cologne. One sachet of FibreSweet contains 1.4g of Orafti’s ingredient Raftilose Synergy1, a combination of the prebiotic ingredients inulin and oligofructose and polydextrose from Danisco Sweeteners. The sweetener, which is produced by Fonsiyonel Functional Food Industries Inc. in Istanbul under licence from Healthia was launched in Turkey one year ago and is just starting to appear on the Russian market. Samil Ozavar at Fonksiyonel told FoodIngredientsFirst that the company is currently starting to promote the product for distribution in western Europe.
The company writes that the benefits of the sweetener are that it helps weight control because it has 60% less calories than the same amount of sugar. It is clinically shown that FibreSweet does not increase blood glucose levels and it may be beneficial for diabetics due to its high fiber content. Meanwhile the product aids in digestion, through regulation, improving transmit time and easing constipation. Because of its prebiotic content the company writes, “prebiotic fibers will significantly increase the amount of beneficial bifidobacteria in your gut that can increase the absorption of essential nutrients such as calcium and help to eliminate toxins and waste.”
