Polydextrose Shown to Have Potential Role in Appetite Control
A new study conducted by the Functional Food Centre of Oxford Brookes University, recorded a 10 per cent reduction in energy intake at a monitored lunch following consumption of a polydextrose preload 60 minutes prior to the lunch.

A number of human studies have documented the satiating effect of Litesse polydextrose, and demonstrated that it can help consumers to reduce their caloric intake. These results are supported by a new study conducted by the Functional Food Centre of Oxford Brookes University, and published in the European Journal of Nutrition (Eur J Nutr 2012, June 21), which recorded a 10 per cent reduction in energy intake at a monitored lunch following consumption of a polydextrose preload 60 minutes prior to the lunch. The study team concluded that polydextrose “has the potential to reduce food intake” and “could be potentially used for appetite control.” Results of a further positive study are expected to be published later this year.
