23 Nov 2018 --- Orgain has launched a range of organic Simple Protein Bars that contain only a handful of ingredients. The bars boast a “relentlessly” clean label with protein claims, reports Orgain.

The Simple Protein Bars are certified organic by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), plant-based and contain 12g of protein and 8g of fiber. Additionally, they have no soy, gluten or GMOs and are also certified kosher and vegan. They are available in three flavors: Chocolate Almond Sea Salt, Blueberry Almond and Chocolate Peanut Butter.

“At Orgain, we help others lead healthy, vibrant lives through organic and clean nutrition. We know how difficult it can be to find convenient and healthy snacks that are also flavorful with a pleasing texture. We live for the challenge of making this possible,” says Founder and CEO, Dr. Andrew Abraham.

Innova Market Insights research notes how the nutritional content of snack foods is changing in terms of protein content, fiber, vitamins and minerals. The ongoing strength of the high protein trend, which is about satiation, is also illustrative of this shift. In terms of a healthier reformulation in NPD, in 2017 YTD, 4 percent of the snack launches tracked globally features a low-fat claim and six percent of total snacks carry a no trans fats claim.

Recently, US active nutrition start-up No Cow launched its No Cow Energy Bars, following a partnership with General Mills. The energy bars are low in sugar (one gram) and contain 45mg of Coffee Bean Flour, an innovative, patented caffeine source that provides sustainable energy that is the equivalent of half a cup of coffee.

Additionally, Arla Foods Ingredients has launched a new protein biscuit concept that is touted as being tasty as well providing all the benefits of protein-rich foods. The Whey-Pro Biscuit concept demonstrates that it is possible to combine a high-protein claim with an indulgent taste, according to Arla.
