Novos launches functional nutrition bar designed to support healthy aging
US-based Novos has unveiled what it says is its first functional bar explicitly formulated to support longevity, combining 15 g of protein, five longevity-focused ingredients, and 20 superfoods in one snack.
“After charting how every natural molecule that has ever been studied interacts with our longevity genes — a journey culminating in DrugAge, the world’s largest longevity molecule database — I hand-picked only the compounds I would wager my health on,” says Diogo Barardo, Ph.D., director of R&D at Novos.
“A dozen reformulations later, those elite performers now harmonize with protein, macros, micros, and taste in the first bar that puts rigorous aging science on the menu.”
The product was developed to offer a convenient option for consumers seeking to combine taste, nutritional value, and science-backed ingredients.
Targeted formulation for healthy aging
The Novos bar’s primary active ingredients include astaxanthin, taurine, and reishi, cordyceps, and lion’s mane mushrooms. In addition, it contains a blend of fruits and vegetables such as broccoli, kale, spinach, sweet potato, sunflower seeds, cranberries, chlorella, maitake mushrooms, and shiitake mushrooms.
According to the company, the bar’s protein mix contains 50% less methionine and 43% less isoleucine than whey protein, two amino acids that animal studies have associated with shortened lifespan. Instead of seed oils or artificial preservatives, the bar is formulated with olive oil and rosemary, aligning with Mediterranean diet principles.
The bar is available in three flavors: Salted Chocolate Crunch, Mixed Berry Crunch, and Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Crunch.
Longevity-focused development
The provider of longevity solutions says its new bar actively supports short and long-term health, cognition, and performance.
