New Animal Protein Concentrated Powder With Omega 3 and 6
PROTEINOL's nutritional value is comparable with other high quality animal proteins such as those from milk, egg and meat.
06/07/05 MATREL S.A.C., a Peruvian company dedicated to the development of science-based nutritional products, has introduced PROTEINOL, a concentrated protein powder containing omega 3 and 6 fatty acids, to be used as a partial substitute for other animal protein sources.
PROTEINOL can be consumed directly as an ingredient in food preparation. PROTEINOL's advantage, besides its high concentration of proteins, is that it contains an excellent profile of essential amino acids for human nutrition. PROTEINOL's nutritional value is comparable with other high quality animal proteins such as those from milk, egg and meat.
Biological studies involving PROTEINOL have showed high contents of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids including EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid), and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid). These omega-3 constituents have an important role in development and physiology and form a part of the structure of the neurons, brain, retina and peripheral nerves. The omega-6 family take part in hormonal and immunological activities.
PROTEINOL is made from false flying fish (Prionotus stephanophrys) and giant squid (Dosidicus gigas), and has been used in the formulation of baby foods, demonstrating its nutritional benefits and adaptability as a cost effective ingredient.
A new bread fortified with Proteinol will soon be launched in Lima, Peru. The fortified bread will be available to consumers by means of a strategic alliance between the raw material provider Provipan (Lesaffre Group) and Matrel. Although starting with bread, Matrel aims to use Proteinol as a raw material to make soups, energy bars, pasta and other foods. According to the company, the production process used guarantees that the final product enriched with Proteinol is odorless and has no taste and it therefore does not alter the organoleptic characteristics of food products.
The company now has a representative in the United States, NutriScience Innovations, LLC .
