Nestlé to Form Non-Prescription Acne Joint Venture with Guthy-Renker
29 Mar 2016 --- Nestlé Skin Health S.A. has spotted way into the global consumer acne market by joining forces with marketing company Guthy-Renker LLC.
The new venture will unite Nestlé Skin Health’s science-based innovation and expertise in skin health with Guthy-Renker’s consumer insights and digital expertise under the Proactiv brand – the world’s leading non-prescription acne brand.
Nestlé, makers of DiGiorno pizza and Hot Pockets microwavable sandwiches, will own a majority stake in the collaboration.
Nestlé Skin Health’s mission is “to enhance quality of life by delivering science-based solutions for the health of skin, hair and nails.” The company states that they conduct product research “to provide both the healthcare community and the consumer with an ongoing progression of innovative technologies and products to protect, serve and enhance skin health.”
Guthy-Renker’s portfolio of consumer brands includes Proactiv, as well as several other products in the beauty, skincare, entertainment and wellness categories.
This new venture may expand sales of Proactiv in Europe, South America and Asia, according to a Nestlé spokesman.
This transaction is subject to competition authority clearances and other customary closing conditions.
