Liquid I.V. selects recycled plastic for Hydration Multiplier launch
28 Jul 2020 --- Wellness brand Liquid I.V. has taken an eco-friendly stride by launching its clean electrolyte drink mixes in a recycled PET (rPET) carton, featuring compostable hydration sticks inside. The company’s products are designed to enhance rapid absorption of water and functional ingredients into the bloodstream by utilizing the science of Cellular Transport Technology. The latest launch of Hydration Multiplier in Seaberry flavor follows the “Yummy” flavor launch in May and will be available for a limited time. Liquid I.V. also carries the lines Sleep Multiplier and Energy Multiplier.
As part of the brand’s general commitment to environmental sustainability, the Hydration Multiplier packaging experience was overhauled with a “100 percent eco-friendly outer carton,” and its first compostable hydration stick. The carton is made of rPET, which is taken from landfills to reduce existing trash, and is “100 percent circular economy suitable,” which minimizes the amount of waste produced in the recycling process. The sticks are also fully compostable and capable of enriching soil.
Seaberries for health
In 2019, as part of its Change The World mission, the Liquid I.V. team traveled to Nepal to bring Hydration Multiplier and medical supplies to those with limited access to healthcare. While in Nepal, the team discovered wild seaberries on a hillside, which would become the inspiration for the newest flavor. Seaberries are a superfruit from the foothills of the Himalayas with more than 190 bioactive nutrients. They are rich in omega fatty acids and antioxidants, which are known to support a healthy immune function. The unique flavor profile is a combination of nectarine and mixed berries. Each stick contains real Seaberry powder sourced straight from the Himalayas.
“I remember traveling back from Nepal with the team and thinking, ‘What can we do to help more?’ The combination of fully sustainable packaging materials and sourcing seaberries straight from the Himalayan region is another big step in our pursuit of total sustainability. Our goal is to take everything we learn from this small-batch run and eventually apply it across all Liquid I.V. products,” notes Brandin Cohen, Liquid I.V.’s CEO and Founder.
The company’s drink mixes are non-GMO and contain no artificial ingredients. Liquid I.V. utilizes Cellular Transport Technology designed to enhance rapid absorption of water and other key ingredients into the bloodstream – helping consumers feel better, faster.
One stick of Liquid I.V. can provide two to three times the hydration of water alone and contains five essential vitamins. As part of their 1-to-1 Giveback Mission to Change the World, Liquid I.V. says it has donated over five million servings to people in need around the globe, to date.
The brand’s products can be found in more than 30,000 outlets across the US, including Costco, Whole Foods, Target, Amazon, CVS, Walgreens, Albertsons and others. Lastly, the company has also donated over 2.3 million sticks to healthcare professionals who are on the front lines fighting COVID-19 in over 2,300 hospitals nationwide.
