Jamieson Laboratories and Indena Partner on Echinacea Extract
More than a decade in the making, Polinacea is a uniquely advanced form of Echinacea angustifolia that was chosen from among 40 plant genotypes for its high concentration of immune-boosting polysaccharides.
Oct 4 2010 --- Indena has entered into an exclusivity agreement in Canada and for some US distribution channels with Jamieson Laboratories to use Polinacea as the key ingredient in their ground-breaking FluShield formula. Polinacea extract is recognized as LPX3 in the Jamieson FluShield product.
More than a decade in the making, Polinacea is a uniquely advanced form of Echinacea angustifolia that was chosen from among 40 plant genotypes for its high concentration of immune-boosting polysaccharides. Years of studies support the effectiveness of this selectively bred flu-fighting formula to boost the immune system to better resist viral infections.
The Polinacea extract is the result of a triple standardized pharmaceutical process that highlights the most beneficial plant compounds echinacosides and polysaccharides and removes the immune-suppressing isobutylamides that commonly occur in other echinacea formulas. “This unique triple standardization achieves a specific immune-boosting capacity and ensures that Polinacea has a direct immunological effect on T cells”, says Christian Artaria, Indena’s Marketing Director & Head of Functional Food Development.
“Jamieson Laboratories is very proud to introduce FluShield to North America. Echinacea angustifolia is a well-known North American wildflower and has been utilized extensively as a traditional herbal medicine. However, Jamieson’s proprietary LPX3 formula (Polinacea) now delivers a unique and effective natural flu-fighting supplement to the North American market where up to 25% of the population suffers from the flu every year,” says Gary Leong, Jamieson’s Vice President, Scientific & Technical Affairs.
