Inulin and Oligofructose Product Shown to Increase Calcium Retention
Results showed that the oligofructose-enriched inulin powder, BeneoSynergy1, increased the change in Bone Mineral Content after 1 year of supplementation by 15% and the change in Bone Mineral Density by more than 45%.
24/03/06 Inulin and oligofructose producer Orafti Active Food Ingredients is highlighting a recent study they commissioned into the effects of their BeneoSynergy1 product and calcium retention within bones.
The research was designed to evaluate whether BeneoSynergy1, a special optimised type of inulin, can increase calcium retention within bones. Results showed that the enriched inulin powder patented by Orafti, does have a positive effect.
Results showed that the oligofructose-enriched inulin powder, BeneoSynergy1, increased the change in Bone Mineral Content after 1 year of supplementation by 15% and the change in Bone Mineral Density by more than 45% (compared to the control group), an effect that has never been shown before. It once again showed increased calcium absorption of 20%.
Orafti reported that it places great importance into researching the effects their ingredients have on the human body, particularly with the improvement of digestive health, bone health and wellbeing. Over the past 15 years Orafti conducted in collaboration with 75 universities and research institutes more than 125 studies, all published in peer reviewed magazines.
Orafti Active Food Ingredients, will be presenting their findings at the 2006 FICEE (Food Ingredients Central and Eastern Europe), Prague, 30th May – 1st June 2006.
