High Protein Baked Beans Make UK Debut
13 Sep 2016 --- IAM SUPER BEANS, the latest product from IAM SUPER FOODS is due to be launched across UK Supermarkets this week.
The pre-cooked, ready to eat beans aim to compete with the traditional tinned bean, and will be available in four healthy, on trend flavours.
With the UK baked bean market struggling over the past 5 years, dropping 21% in volume from 862 million units to 678 million units in 2015, IAM Super Foods hope its product will give the sector a much needed revival.
“Baked Beans have long been the Brits ultimate convenience accompaniment to breakfast, lunch or supper,” explained Barney Mauleverer, co-founder of IAM SUPER FOODS.
“Why is it that the tinned options have been so slow to move with the times in providing easy cooking, light weight grab and go packaging and interesting international flavours on such a staple UK product. The tin can is long overdue an overhaul,” he contends.
The ‘high protein’ content of other IAM SUPER FOODS products also features in IAM SUPER BEANS, being both high in protein and also high in fiber. A 125g portion provides one of your fruit and veg five a day and is also low in fat and sugar. They can be also consumed hot or cold.

The company hopes that it’s on-trend flavors and stand-out packaging will attract a younger, more adventurous audience, who are looking for an easy, tasty, healthy meal.
The beans come in four varieties: Texan Style Pulled Pork and BBQ Baked Beans, Indian Style Tikka Curry Baked Beans, Mexican Style Beef Fajita Baked Beans, and British Style Original Baked Beans.
“We’ve blended a variety of beans with strong international flavors that are bang on taste and trend,” continued Mauleverer, adding, “Beans are such a valuable food that are naturally high in both protein and fiber, and with these exciting flavors, we’ve created recipes that are also low in fat and sugar.”
“The IAM SUPER FOOD team is mad about protein, and beans are a perfect addition to the IAM SUPER GRAINS and IAM SOUPER line up.”
ASDA will list IAM SUPER BEANS nationally across their main estate stores this week at £1.99 ($2.65) for each 250g microwaveable pouch. Other retailers are expected to follow.
