Glycemic Research Institute confirms Fry It Right(TM) coating to be “Diabetic Friendly”
Instead of high-glycemic flour or traditional bread coatings usually used in fried foods, Long's Fry It Right(TM) can be used on chicken, fish, beef, or vegetables fried in canola oil and be considered “safe” for diabetics.
24/08/05 A unique new product designed to allow diabetics to eat fried food has received a Seal of Approval from the Glycemic Research Institute in Washington, D.C., for successfully completing in vivo clinical studies. Clinical studies confirm Long's Fry It Right(TM) coating has passed criteria required by the federal government to be labeled “diabetic friendly.”
Human clinical trials on Long's Fry It Right(TM) coating showed that the product is “low-glycemic” in both diabetics and non-diabetics. Further, the product did not trigger Adipose tissue fat-storage in humans, says Dr. Ann de Wees Allen, Chief of Biomedical Research for Glycemic Solutions, the independent laboratory conducting the trials for GRI. “This research shows that, unlike typical high-glycemic flour or bread coatings, Long's Fry It Right does not trigger fat-storage in fat cells, and does not elevate blood glucose or insulin levels, which leads to obesity, insulin resistance, and diabetes,” Dr. Allen confirmed. “And no reports of gastrointestinal distress were noted after consumption in our trials,” she added.

Medical staff at Glycemic Research Institute conducted ongoing clinical studies in humans (in vivo) to determine the blood glucose, insulin, glycemic index, glycemic load, diabetic and fat-storing properties of foods coated with Fry It Right(TM) and fried in canola oil. The product passed all of the clinical criteria legally and scientifically required for low-glycemic foods and as such, GRI's coveted Seal of Approval may now be used on the product label.
For the past 20 years, GRI has been the industry leader in glycemic testing and research, receiving the first glycemic patent and federal certification ever awarded. GRI conducts clinical studies for the food and nutrition industries worldwide, and is the only glycemic testing facility in the U.S. that is approved by the FDA. As a result of this study, Long's Fry It Right(TM) may make a substantiated claim of "diabetic friendly" as required by the FDA and FTC and as specified by Standardized Clinical Testing Protocols accepted in the U.S. and worldwide.
