Gelita spotlights women’s health solutions for skin, muscle and bone health
07 Sep 2022 --- Producer of gelatin and collagen peptides, Gelita is highlighting its recent Bioactive Collagen Peptides solutions for women’s health and personalized delivery methods using certain gelatins.
A variety of Bioactive Collagen Peptides (BCP) from Gelita are available to assist women, in particular, in achieving healthier lifestyles, starting at a younger age and continuing well into menopause, which significantly alters their body’s metabolic processes.
“Verisol leads to long-term improvements in collagen production in the skin, thus catering for more elasticity, fewer wrinkles and reduced occurrence of cellulite,” Oliver Wolf, global marketing and communication at Gelita, tells PersonalCareInsights.
Boosting muscles and bones
Wolf explains that clinical studies have shown a significant decrease in fat mass and an increase in lean body mass together with improved muscle strength when using Fortibone.
“Fortibone stimulates the production of the extracellular bone matrix, which is the essential framework in bones. Hence, it supplies the body with the basic components needed for a strong and stable bone structure. Bodybalance boosts the effect of resistance training.”
Gelita offers a comprehensive portfolio of gelatines that provides a broad release profile in soft capsules, Wolf continues.
“Besides a variety of versatile and tailor-made standard gelatines, there is Gelita RXL for improved capsule shelf life and stability.”
“These gelatines provide a reliable release and reduced cross-linking properties, even under extreme storage conditions. Gelita RXL R² complements this Gelita capsule gelatine portfolio for revolutionary fill release.”
Customized delivery systems
According to Gelita, soft capsules are convenient and easy to swallow. Therefore consumers have been consuming nutrients within these capsules for a long time.
While it is vital for some substances, such as analgesics, to be released as quickly as possible, other sensitive substances must be delivered safely through the hostile stomach environment to be released only in the small intestine.
Doing this can also prevent the unpleasant fishy burps brought on by an early release of Omega 3 from the stomach.
“The soft capsules produced with Gelita RXL R² offer a faster release of the fill and offer the added advantage of the reduced cross-linking properties of the RXL technology,” says Wolf.
“Currently, on the opposite end of the release profile spectrum, Gelita offers Gelita EC; a gelatine product for the one-step production of truly enteric capsules which release sensitive fills only in the intestine rather than in the stomach.”
Gelita EC enables the production of crystal clear enteric soft caps in a single step utilizing existing machinery, as opposed to coating the capsule with an opaque, acid-insoluble coating in a time- and cost-consuming second production step.
Spotlight on beauty gummies
Previously, the company’s Soluform and Verisol Hybrid Smart Technology (HST) were touted as “hassle-free” in production and ensuring a good taste and texture for gummy supplement solutions while providing the health benefits customers expect in ingestible beauty applications.
“With gummies emerging as a valuable player in the health and nutrition space, Gelita offers solutions and technical know-how for this delivery format, including starch-free molding. Verisol HST for next-generation beauty gummies,” says Wolf.
“Verisol HST is optimized for the production of collagen-enriched fruit gummies. It replaces both gelatin and collagen peptides and enables a concentration of 15% BCP in fruit gummies without affecting the taste and texture of the final product.”
“In this way, Verisol HST is a suitable solution to cater to fortified gummies of the beauty from within segment with the required high dosage of BCP.”
Approved claim, collagen and fortified gummies
Previously, Gelita’s Verisol collagen peptides received a Foods with Function Claim for skin elasticity in Japan. F&B manufacturers who use bioactive collagen peptides can now claim that their product contains Verisol on their packaging. Gelita also noted that bioactive peptides promote the formation of collagen.
The company also anticipated a surge in demand for fortified gummies and collagen ingredients, resulting in limited supply. To address the burgeoning markets, Gelita developed Soluform, which allows for higher protein content and lower sugar solutions.
