Eyeing nutrition growth: Brenntag expands business structure with global Food & Nutrition brand
08 Nov 2018 --- Brenntag has today launched a global Food & Nutrition brand, drawing together in one coordinated business unit and management the company’s food and beverage specific capabilities in 73 countries, with 28 food application and development centers.
Brenntag Food & Nutrition will have its own structure within the Brenntag organization. Hubertus Spethmann, Vice President Corporate Communications at Brenntag, tells NutritionInsight that creating the Food & Nutrition brand “will free up capacities for the other Life Science segments to put even more force behind personal care, pharma and animal nutrition.”
Tom Corcoran will lead the global business as Vice President Food & Nutrition Brenntag Group, overseeing global targets, strategy and marketing. Brenntag’s four regions are each covered by a Vice President: Frank Haven for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), Margaret Chua for Asia Pacific, Larry Davis for North America and Tomás Navarro for Latin America, who will be responsible for regional strategy and operations.
“Brenntag Food & Nutrition is the perfect combination of specialized support for the Food & Nutrition market, distribution capabilities and Brenntag legacy, it is true value. We want our partners to sense that difference, to sense the difference we can make to their product and their business,” says Tom Corcoran, Vice President Food & Nutrition Brenntag Group, about his ambition for the new unit.
The company is seeking to support customers and suppliers understand the local market specific needs and developments, with the company’s technical teams creating tailor-made food and nutrition formulations.
“The brand will cover the major trends such as healthier eating, clean label and food safety, plus convenience and customization,” Spethmann says. “Within these key trends, we provide a specialized ingredient and broad product portfolio, formulation expertise, innovative approaches and smart solutions. We do not provide R&D in the classical sense but application services and support which is very specific and confidential as we work here on behalf of the customer.”
“Brenntag has a significant Food & Nutrition business on a global scale with a good mix of ingredients, specialty chemicals and value added services. With our capabilities we are now at a tipping point where it made sense to join all respective forces to concentrate on Food & Nutrition which is an important industry segment for Brenntag with attractive opportunities for growth. With the new set-up, we will be in a much better position to meet the expectations of our current and future business partners on both a local and global level,” says Henri Nejade, Member of the Management Board of Brenntag Group.
