DishQuo app simplifies meal planning for diabetics with “insulin science”
29 Nov 2021 --- Meal planning app DishQuo is helping people with diabetes choose healthier food options by translating scientific knowledge of insulin into a user-friendly digital interface. The new offering is one of the latest personalized nutrition apps to enable healthier lifestyles.
DishQuo offers more than 1,000 diabetic-friendly recipe options that consider contributing factors to insulin regulation and sensitivity. The company notes that insulin resistance is the driving factor in the growing Type 2 diabetes (T2D) epidemic.
Simple and time-saving
DishQuo is positioned to make meal planning simple and more enjoyable.
It offers meal planning options for entire families, alleviating stress by making it easier to incorporate the eating needs of people with diabetes with the habits of their families.
App users can have their meal sizes instantly adjusted for partners, their family and their guests when having company over.
Meal plans will automatically account for each person in the household, and even which meals will be eaten with whom.
Remember November
November is National Diabetes Month, which helps to bring awareness to the chronic condition. Last month, Diabetes UK warned that Britain was at a “tipping point of a public health emergency.”
According to the report, if the government does not take significant action, up to 5.5 million people in the UK, or one in ten, could be living with diabetes in the next decade.
In a recent Special Report, Liat Shemesh, marketing manager of microalgae ingredient supplier Solabia-Algatech Nutrition flagged that inflammation plays a role in chronic diseases, such as T2D.
Meanwhile, Aker BioMarine completed a preclinical study that suggested krill oil supplementation may help decrease insulin resistance.
Tech steps up nutrition
As personalized nutrition moves more into the mainstream, technology is helping more consumers have access to customized care. Some of these are covered by health insurance providers to ensure a wide range of availability.
One example is FitNatal – an on-demand fitness program for expectant mothers – with the goal to reduce the occurrence of gestational diabetes.
Earlier this month, Qina and Blendhub announced a new “global ecosystem” focused on data and technology to create personalized nutritional powders.
