Simplex Health launches FitNatal to reduce gestational diabetes
09 Aug 2021 --- Simplex Health, a US-based medical nutrition company focused on preventing and reversing chronic diseases, has launched FitNatal – an on-demand fitness program for expectant mothers.
FitNatal was designed to help women with gestational diabetes move more efficiently and freely throughout each stage of pregnancy. The launch represents a new development in both holistic health and personalized nutrition, as consumers are becoming more enticed by nutritional solutions tailored to their lifestyle.
The program is available through Simplex Health’s affiliate Simplex Wellness, and complements Simplex Health’s comprehensive online and offline resources. The company’s protocols target the “root cause” of chronic disease – insulin resistance.
“There isn’t a medical nutrition company out there that’s fusing exercise and nutrition in this way, and certainly not for this specific population,” says David Rambo, founder and CEO of Simplex Health.
FitNatal includes a comprehensive guide with exercise plans, mobility tips, breathing techniques and expert advice. It also sends weekly inspirational emails and grants access to Simplex on Demand, an video exercise portal.
“We are, once again, pioneering a new paradigm of care – this time for our pregnant patient population,” Rambo remarks.

Both expectant mothers with gestational diabetes and women with healthy pregnancies can benefit from FitNatal, the company affirms.
Simplex Health provides patients with access to dietitians via telehealth and in-person at select locations. Patients can also reach health coaches at all times, with access to one-on-one support through text and video chats.
The platform’s online communication is HIPAA-certified, referring to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996, a US law passed to protect sensitive patient information from being disclosed.
Personalized nutritional to the mainstream
Simplex Health’s programs can be declared on US insurance, enabling personalized nutrition to be accessible to more consumers.
“We’ve helped thousands of patients through our nutrition and lifestyle therapies, but we saw a void in the pregnancy space specific to movement,” says program creator Lauren Shelly, a certified personal trainer and director of wellness operations for Simplex Wellness.
“As a mother of two myself, I know first-hand how easy it is to put fitness on the backburner when you’re pregnant. But when you combine the right food with the right exercise, both mom and baby benefit.”
Telehealth evolves
As the COVID-19 pandemic brought more services online, telehealth also saw increased interest. A study from last November found that a weight loss program was more effective when digital and human interventions were combined.
A study from last October found similar conclusions, highlighting that digital tools complement rather than compete with dietitians.
