Campina Launches Dairy Product for Appetite Control
Dairy products containing Fabuless are already available in Italy (ActifControl by Latteria Merano) and in Portugal (by Lactogal, as part of its Adagio range of healthy dairy concepts).
24/11/06 Campina, one of the top three dairy co-operatives in the world, has launched a new shot drink containing DSM Food Specialties' revolutionary weight management ingredient 'Fabuless' in the Netherlands. The product, 'Optimel Control', is a second-generation line extension of Campina's highly successful Optimel range of dairy products for the weight conscious consumer. Optimel Control will meet burgeoning consumer demand for effective weight management products which are both convenient and great tasting.
Lucas Hendrikse, Business Unit Director Dairy Ingredients at DSM comments: "We are delighted to see the results of our long-standing collaboration with Campina. Campina recognises the importance of continuous product innovation to respond to ever-changing consumer demand - a view also shared by DSM."
"Research has shown that straight-forward and effective weight management is a key requirement for modern consumers. By incorporating Fabuless into its new Optimel Control shot drink, Campina can offer a delicious product that helps consumers to manage their calorie intake easily and efficiently."
Dairy products containing Fabuless are already available in Italy (ActifControl by Latteria Merano) and in Portugal (by Lactogal, as part of its Adagio range of healthy dairy concepts). In addition, this innovative ingredient is also successful in the food supplements industry, where it is sold in individual cups, which can be added to a meal by consumers. This concept has been introduced in a large number of countries, including the USA (under the brand name Total Lean Reduce), France and Spain (Slim 10/10) and Scandinavia (ProAim).
Fabuless is a patent-protected combination of oat and palm oils (both naturally occurring dietary lipids) that is formulated in a novel emulsion. Its microstructure prevents the digestion of palm oil droplets until relatively deep in the small intestine. Undigested fat arriving in the ileum (the latter part of the small intestine) triggers an 'appetite satisfied' signal to the brain. Because they feel no need to take in more calories, consumers can eat less and still feel satisfied.
The 100ml shot of Optimel Control is available in raspberry and lemon flavours in all major Dutch retail outlets.
