BioGaia Enters Exclusive Agreement With Nestlé in Mexico
This is the second contract with Nestlé since BioGaia’s sale to Nestlé of license rights to use BioGaia’s patented Lactobacillus reuteri Protectis in infant formula, announced in February 2012, at which time the two companies entered into a number of development and option agreements.
23 Nov 2012 --- BioGaia has signed an agreement with Nestlé Mexico, for the exclusive rights to sell BioGaia’s probiotic drops in Mexico from 2013. The product will be sold under the BioGaia brand.
This is the second contract with Nestlé since BioGaia’s sale to Nestlé of license rights to use BioGaia’s patented Lactobacillus reuteri Protectis in infant formula, announced in February 2012, at which time the two companies entered into a number of development and option agreements. The first contract, signed in June, was with Nestlé’s Gerber division in the United States and included the probiotic drops and oral rehydration solution. As the oil drops already are on the market in Mexico, this is a part of BioGaia’s on-going change of distributor programme.
The BioGaia ProTectis baby drops contains BioGaia’s patented and well-researched probiotic strain Lactobacillus reuteri Protectis. Today the drops are available in more than 50 countries.
“We are pleased with the agreement with Nestlé Mexico. With Nestlé’s sales force of more than 100 sales representatives visiting pediatricians and their marketing capacity we are confident that sales will grow faster in this very important market”, says Peter Rothschild, Chief Executive Officer, BioGaia.
